Hello all[sm=wave.gif]

I wanted to share some thoughts/ quotes and hopefully get some input too, for which I would be very grateful.

I haven't posted on HP for a while. But, I have been so very busy working on me, what I am about, who I am, what I can achieve, what I want to achieve etc.

I have really moved on in so many ways over the last year or so, and despite life's little obstacles, I have just started my own business, something I thought would not have been possible 12 months ago.

What I am working on now in my life is, what I would call being "good enough". This does not mean not fulfilling my full potential, it just means for me, that what is important is the goal I have set myself, that I should not get entangled in the process such that it prevents me from reaching my ultimate goal. If it does, then I need to take another look at the process. Does that make sense?

I am finding that I spend all the hours God sends planning, writing, rewriting, thinking, rethinking and NO time actually DOING! While this may be good preparation within reason, I actually have prospective clients (corporate) waiting for me to come in and see them. They are chasing ME and I, in my bid to present a professional image, continue to plan, write, rewrite etc my flyers, brochures, letters, but I have yet to make that leap and actually DO all the things I say I can do, like to do, want to do….

I do not want to lose the fantastic oppotunities that have come my way. So I'm looking deeper into why I am holding myself back to try and overcome whatever it is.

I don’t know what I’m waiting for. I’m working for myself, no one else is going to tell me what to do. I am a complementary therapist, not a PR or marketing guru, so all I need is to convey what I need to convey in my marketing bumf, leave it at that, and get on with the therapies. Preparation isn’t everything if you never then go on to the next stage…

Planning not doing is safe and comfortable, though ultimately pointless. The next step brings fear because it is as yet unknown. Fear of failure, fear of succeeding, fear or not being taken seriously, fear of not living up to my own expectations and those of people around me, fear that immobilises. What is this fear? It’s the familiar. Success is the unknown. I am so ready to take that leap now, whatever happens, because life moves forward, things that stand still stagnate.

During my ‘net trawls, I came across many quotes that illustrate my problem very well (Goggle search for inspirational/ motivation quotes). I have posted just a few below. You may have read them before, but I for one found them very useful. I hope you find them useful too, especially if you recognise these patterns in yourself.

You cannot plough a field by turning it over in your mind. Anonymous

Begin somewhere.
You cannot build a reputation on what you intend to do. Liz Smith

...if we wait for the moment when everything,
absolutely everything is ready, we shall never begin. Ivan Turgenev

You cannot acquire experience by making experiments. You cannot create experience. You must undergo it. Albert Camus

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand. Confucius 551-479 BC

Love looks forward, hate looks back, anxiety has eyes all over its head. Mignon McLaughlin, The Neurotic's Notebook, 1960s

The best way to predict your future is to create it. Peter Drucker

Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars. Les Brown

I need to let the adventure begin. Wish me luck!

Love Nicky x

Hi Nicky,

You have done all the initial ground work and have got clients interested - pat yourself on the back you have done well - now you can launch yourself find an auspicious time for this launch (astrologically speaking) - it is now time for you to manifest all of your hard work. Don't get hung up onrewording and changing your leaflets. I felt the urge to randomly opena page in Shakti Gawains Reflections in the Light and this is what I got.

Every moment is an opportunity

Remember that you are always creating your life new and fresh. You are not trying to redo or change what already exists. To do so would be to resist what is, which creates struggle and conflict. Take the attitude that you are accepting and handling whatever exists in your life and at the same time recognising that every moment is a new opportunity to begin creating exactly what you desire and will make you the happiest * I create my life anew each day*

Well done you. I just knew it would all start to come together for you. [sm=hug.gif]
Here's another quote that just came to me...

We all go through sh*t from time to time, but even sh*t has to dry up sometime. 😀

The input you seek I guess is actually "another" thingyou need beforeyou actually take the action. You're ready. The interest you have from corporates is feedback enough that you are able. Are you willing?
Sometimes I've felt that I don't want to be too successful? Wierd huh?
If you want someone to hold your hand, metaphorically speaking, as you jump into it then feel free to PM me. No charge.

Hi Nicky

I found your thread very interesting. It sounds like you have some great plans but are hindered by a major attack of procrastination.

Imagine yourself in a years time. Imagine that you have not put into action any of your plan. Take a few minutes tosense how that would feel? Now imagine that we're in 2007 again and you have put into action your plan. Again take some time to really experience how you would feel.

Although you are planning are you setting SMART goals? For example, with brochures, is you goal 'to get some brochures' or have you decided the purpose of the brochure, what will be on them, when and where they will be printed, and how you will distribute them. Perhaps breaking each goal into clearly defined steps that have a time-scale will help - and when I say time-scale I don't mean 'sometime next week' but 11am on Monday 13th.

Good luck with your grand adventure. Let us know how you get on.

Helen

Thank you Redfern 🙂

For the past week whether I wanted to or not, I have been out of action due to a nasty bout of chickenpox.

I am making my own brochures to send to businesses that have already expressed that they want me to come in, but I also want to use them for general use, so send out to prospective businesses. This is why I have spent what seems like ages (it has been ages, that's why :D) making sure I'm explaining the therapies and their benefits in the corporate sector so that those who have never come across it before can understand and hopefully decide it's for them too.

I like yoiur precise goal making. I am very good a wriggling out of goals I set, chickenpox being my latest excuse!

I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks all for you support and suggestions,

Love Nicky

Lovely to see you again Nicky

Fear of failure is often past life.....too much success is a great problem to have.

Hi Nicky- I too have just created new business cards and flyers for about the 5th time since I qualified in massage and aromatherapy 4 years ago. Also did IHM but dared not even attempt that even though I passed (just don't feel confident enough. At the beg of 2006 I decided that was it I am going to get myself up and running. I must admit I felt a lot more positive than before but alas I am still not selling myself due to fear. My sister in lawhas just gained a degree in counselling and gave me a card to put up in my local gym. I also took along my cards but would you believe it only put hers up and brought mine back home. So once again my cards and flyers are neatly in a wallet because I am too frightened to take the plunge. Don't get me wrong I did 2 massages last week but they were a friend and a member of my family. My fear issomeone ringing up who I don't know.
