Hi I am too lazy I always want to do something in my life but laziness holds me back. I hate it!!! I make goals and I don't succeed them or at least I don't get it done in time. Can someone give me advice or tips on how to stop and prevent laziness. What's even worse is that people are going starting to notice that I'm getting lazy and I'm not right. I spend so much time on non-important stuff. Someone help me!!! I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

The thing to remember here is "why are you lazy"
for example "if you dont get of the sofa and go for a walk, why dont you want to go for that walk"
if you think about it in that way then you have the answer...

You are not lazy because i can bet if you WANT to do something you get it done, normally fast and without a issue to be seen.

If your tired then why would you be rushing around to do things, if you dont want to do something then why do it and not just stay sitting or whatever..

Work out why you dont do things because you know deep down why and work on that, no-one is lazy they just dont want to do something and that is now named LAZY...

Hi Peterondiet,

If you really ARE ready to move forward then a starting point is to do some 'Mental Housecleaning'. Make a list of what it is you are spending your time doing and highlight what really is important and what isn't. Only then will you get a clearer picture of where you are, which will allow you to focus on the positive aspects of your life.

Eliminate the behaviour which keeps you in a rut and concentrate on forward momentum to improve the quality of your life.

Good luck,

Nigel Beverley

Nowt wrong with being lazy. I have spent my whole life trying to avoid working and figuring out how to maximise income for minimum effort. This in itself is quite a task!

Are you lazy and aware of it? I am. Academically, I've always been successful but I'm still lazy. I know I could achieve more in life if I wasn't this lazy!

Do I need to just accept this fact or should I do something to overcome my laziness? What are the successful techniques you know to overcome laziness?

I think maybe having a look at EFT would help you -
Accept yourself for who you are first.........then change.

What spinal music recommended!

Also, try setting yourself goals. Specific goals for the business but also things that you'd treat yourself to if you achieve said goals whether it's a nice holiday or a car or a box of chocs.

EFT and Life Coaching working together ...

... is the title of a thread from about three years ago, which may be of interest to those following this thread. It's quite long, and erm, lively, with some varied points of view! 😉

Enjoy! 🙂

I believe it is very important to 'mobile'. The feeling of being lazy is your body telling you that you are too stagnant. If you stay still too long you become listless and fidgety????? I would recommend that you up you movement a little, go for walks and increase the time you are actually moving and i think you will find with this extra activiity will come clearer thinking and your energy levels will increase, you will sleep better and before you know it you will be doing things without thinking about it for ages before hand and will feel better for it.

The post regarding not wanting to do anything so you dont is actually the same, you cant be bothered because you havent charged your batteries your brain is on slow and the listlessness persuades you to stay just where you are because you dont really want to do it anyway......I suppose to simplify it is a RUT and only you can decide to shake it?

Peterondiet,

I may be wrong and I am having an educated guess but I bet that your motivation strategy is to let things build up until they become unbearable and you have to do them to avoid pain or discomfort. If this is so you are not alone this type of strategy is very common.

Try this:
[LIST=1]

  • close your eyes and recall a time from your past and find one or two examples of when you were really motivated to do something and you got it done no problem and with no procrastination at all and you really enjoyed what you were doing.
  • Now recall a time when you had something to do and you really couldn't be bothered or left it till the last minute and did it late or badly.
  • Now when you compare these two events what is different? If you can see a picture in your head what is different about these two events? is one colour or black and white? Are they in the same place? Is one 3D and moving or Still and Flat like a photograph?
  • Is there anything else going on what are you saying to yourself (in your head) for each event?
  • Is there a feeling attached to the different events? What is different about the feelings? how does the feeling(s) move around your body? i.e. does it roll from stomach to head and back to stomach what direction do they move in?
  • When you think about something that you want to do in the future make it the same as the time you were motivated make the picture look the same, say the same thing in your head and experience the same feeling then double the feeling by spinning it faster and make the picture bigger bolder and brighter and make it as though you are looking out of your own eyes...

This is a very brief and basic technique from NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) if you want more info or found this useful etc.... send me a PM and I will see what else we can some up with to help...

Peter, I know I am probably a month late for this thread, but I still wanted to make a comment. I had this problem/guilty feeling that I was lazy. It was drummed into me from very little that you have to work very hard at all times. Anyway, I came across a free ebook on the internet called "the path of laest resistance" if I remember correctly. It helped me such a lot. And I don't know if I member correctly if it was from that book, but a question I now ask myself when setting a goal is: "if I could have it, would I want it?" - To my amazement I had to say NO to a lot of my goals. I would not want them, not as they were anyway, possibly with ifs and buts, but not just as they were.
The moment I decided I would go away from my goals and make some foundational choices about how I wanted to live. Built upon that I could make primary and secondary choices (goals), that would be in line with my foundation. That actually worked for me. My goals are different now, not sooo much, but they are "me" now, not what I think I "should" aim for.
A goal which is the true you is soooooo much easier to reach, actually it goes with the flow instead of being a struggle and effort.......
