I am feeling a bit apprehensive today... I am going to do my Reiki 1 attunement on Sunday (which I have been looking forward to for months). I can feel my confidence draining out of me 🙁
I am so worried that its not going to work or I wont be able to do it, or even worse have a massive panic attack [&:] (I used to suffer really badly with them but now only get them every now & then - mainly when Im super tense).
I would really like to just enjoy the day but Im afraid Im gonna ruin it with my negative thoughts. I really am trying hard to keep a lid on it but its easier said than done sometimes.... Im wondering whether I've invested too much hope into it. HELP!!! 🙂

It is perfectly natural that you are feeling some apprehension about Sunday, as it is for anyone about to make some kind of a change in their lives. Change is scary, but it is in taking a decision and acting upon it, sometimes with a life coach, that progress is made.
“Congratulations on your decision to take this step forward in your personal growth …..” is the opening line of the letter I send to all my Reiki students, but it could equally apply to any process whereby someone has made a commitment for growth and change. So, as you have made arrangements to be attuned to Reiki, you have already made a commitment, to yourself, and I see that as a very positive step forward that you have taken. Well done!
If you visit the Reiki forum you will find many threads on this very subject – some initial doubts and then afterwards a post to say how brilliant it was. As happens in many other situations, too, trepidation before the event followed by phew! that wasn’t so bad after all! As to your concern that it won’t work or you won’t be able to do it properly, may I assure you that you will receive just what you need – Reiki works like that. When you have Reiki, you will be able, and no doubt encouraged, to self-treat, which should be an enormous help. Have you shared your thoughts with your Reiki master, been given guidelines for before and after?
On the subject of confidence generally, do also have a read of the other threads here in Life Coaching, particularly the one headed “Confidence building” – just scroll down the list to find it – where we have shared our thoughts and tips for doing just that. You might find the ones about posture and breathing to be useful, extremely simple and very effective.
Just to comment briefly on your post in the disability thread, yes our spiritual awakening opens up a whole new path, and I think it’s wonderful that you are able to see yours in that positive light.

Thank you sooooo much for your encouraging words - it was just what I needed :). I will speak to my reiki master about the concerns I have (although I haven't met her as yet, she seems very nice & has already been a big support to me!)
I will have a look at the confidence thread, i am sure i will pick up on some very good points. I know it is something I am going to have to work on in order to move onward & upward!
Your kind & supportive words have really helped so much. I will make sure i post a thread after Sunday to let you know how it went! 😀

just to say that i really hope that your exam today will go/has gone well. And I hope that you have had some time to go through the Confidence thread. There is a lot of great stuff that has been posted there. And if you need any help we are all here. Congratulations here, too, once again for finding your confidence to step forward, in this case with the Reiki attunement, and I'm so glad it has surpassed the "phew! that wasn't so bad after all" I mentioned earlier!!! 😉

purpose... just thought i'd let you know that the quote you posted (and I printed off & stuck to my wall!) has helped enormously!
when I start to feel the frustrations of not completing all my tasks for the day... i read the quote, stop the negative thoughts, move on & try my best to accomplish things (instead of sitting wollowing!!) and feel more at peace! 🙂
