Anyone else here got a Wii Fit? I got mine today and it's great fun. Am going to stick with the formal exercise programe from my PT for fitness, but Wii Fit certainly gets bits aching and makes you sweat! A fun way to get up off your backside and move around a bit.

What a good idea.......let's hope it gets people motivated, instead of sitting on their rumps playing games.......they can still play games, whilst having a workout.....:)

Hi,
I got mine at 9am Friday morning when it came out. I did the hoola hoop, heading the football & ski jumping and yesterday my sides ached so much!! A great way to excercise and have fun with the family too!

Hi,
Definately worth it. Each day it tracks how many minutes you've excercised for. It works your BMI and there is a graph to show what you have lost.

Fun & usefull. Not sure what the availability is like though/

Have fun,
Lisa

I got one on friday too, love it. Makes exercising bit more fun, and its a great way of doing stuff as a family. Unless your family is as competitive as mine lol

Think the availability is ok, been to shops this afternoon as a few stores had notice in the windows to say they had them in stock, woolies definately did.

Hello hulahoops and welcome to Healthypages

Yes, generally it's absolutely fine to post relevant external links, provided they aren't to your own website, and that you're not connected to them in some way.

Thanks for posting. 🙂

Hiya,

Has anyone actually had any results with this ? ie weight loss, reduced size etc ?

I'd like to know before I decide whether to invest in one please.

I haven't used it enough to have had any results, I use my friends one, but very irregularly. However, both she and her partner have lost a bit.

There's no reason to think you wouldn't lose some, but it's like all forms of exercise, you have to do it to get results. It's got step on it, and all sorts of other things that tone your legs, arms, abs etc. There's things to improve your balance. It's really quite amazing.

Do just be careful. My cousin got one and was doing the yoga exercises on it when she went a bit wrong (she used to do a lot of yoga but hadn't for a while, so not exactly a beginner but not exactly experienced either). The chiropractor's costing her a fortune!

We have one and it's a fun way to play computer games. But I don't think it's an alternative to doing sport or exercise. There's no way a machine can decide what's right for you and it only offers limited range of movements.

It's a great toy, but it brings exercise down to the level of Pavlov's dog.

Hiya.

The Wii Fit is a great idea but you still need the motivation to use it.

My only time to try and exercise is the evening but being at home on my own with a wee one I can;t get out to classes. I tired exercise dvds but made a racket jumping around the wooden floor so that was a good excuse to stop lol

With Wii Fit I thought happy days I can do this quietly in bare feet. So I had to buy the Wii console and the Fit and yes it was cool for the first week or 2 but you need motivation. Which obviously I don't have at the minute. I've had mine since June and my 5 year old uses it more! It stays under the armchair to stop the puppy peeing on it lol

Try Argos every day if you want to get one, when one pops free you can reserve and collect. I've bought 4 at different times for various people this way. Just wish I could find the motivation to use mine 🙁

Its good for what it is - an alternatate way to entertain yourself and definately it'll get you movinga dn burn calories but as a dedicated/reliable exercise machine it shouldn't be relied upon. I have a friend whos a body builder, in amazing shape yet the wii fit has him down as clinically obese 🙂 for which he takes much ribbing...:p

I have to say, the best thing on the Wii console is the boxing training. If you do that every day you would have to become fitter. Its great aerobic exercise and leaves you exhausted. It comes with Wii Sport (which comes free with the Wii).

I find it amazing exercise!

Hi there,

We invested in a wii for our wedding/xmas present to each other and we bought a few games to go with it. The game we use the most is the wii sport which came free!!!
It is such a fun way of exercise and am loving the tennis and boxing. The boxing is such a good workout. As someone who hates exercise and doesn't get much time to do any, my hubby loves doing this as its fun and can fit in with his schedule.
I think anything thats gets you exercising and enjoying it at the same time is worth it.

Love and Light
Caroline 🙂

I have just bought a Wii and i'm hoping to get a wii fit. I've found these websites useful for Wii availability and in stock advice.

I seen My Fitness Coach and thought this appeals to healthy pages readers. One worth buying or no?

Not seen that before. Sounds fun. I might invest.

I bought myself a Wii just before Christmas with some vouchers I got from work. Then I was given Wii Fit for Christmas. I think the balance games are brilliant and it has made me more aware of my posture, which has to be a good thing as a massage therapist! Some of the muscle works outs are hard work and leave you feeling a bit sore the next day. I love the yoga too. Free step is my favorite of the aerobic exercises because I can watch telly and step at the same time. I've been known to do step for 45 mins in front of the telly!

I also got Shaun White's Snowboarding Road Trip which is thoroughly addictive and everso good for your thighs!!

How long before we start treating people for overuse injuries caused by excessive use of Wii. I reckon it will come soon...............

I also wanted to have Wii Fit because my friend told me to have it especially during winter when I cannot go outside and exercise. My DD also wants to have this because she loves gaming, maybe we should try to get this soon.

I think that it is a great way to get started towards a healthier life. Few people have the internal motivation needed to get up and go to the gym. However, you might have the energy necessary to play a game and still get a workout in. As long as it is a step in the right direction, I would be all for it.
