Slimmer ankles?

Basically I've been looking on the internet for a way to slim down ankles, but a lot of what I see suggests overall weight loss as the only way. However, I am generally quite a healthy and slim person and don't think losing weight on all my body is a good idea- I'm happy with my thighs, tum and bum but have disproportionally large calves and (especially) ankles. I did have a problem with stretched ligaments in my legs when I was growing- could this be a cause of my cankles?
Really I just want to know if its possible to target my ankles specifically, or whether I'm doomed to have chunky lower legs for the rest of my days.

Thanks!

You could try manual lymphatic drainage. With mods permission - for trained therapists.

Hi,

It would only speculation because there are many causes, some that can be resolved and others that can't. It would be worth your time consulting a Sports/Remedial massage therapist who would be able to put you on the right track.

Thicker ankles could also mean you're storing excess water in your body. It's best to go and see your doctor about that to rule it out or get some diuretic medication to resolve this.

Fluid Retention - Raise Legs or Polarity Yoga

If all else fails, as has for me, raising your bed or mattress, & putting your legs up whenever you can might bring some reduction in fluid retention.
Alternatively or as well, there is a Polarity Yoga excercise:-
After doing basic warm ups, lie on your front on a well padded surface, so as not to damage knees, bend knees to a right angle, then scissor legs from side to side, each time alternating which foot is in front. Vary speed, essentially so it's always comfortable.
The lower leg is relaxed so there's a gentle of flick of the ankles.
Work up gradually to X 300
This is very effective for removing excess fluid anywhere in the body for the next 24 hours.

It´s possible that body circulation in general and specifically in the lower legs needs to be increased.

For example, a self massage to the feet, ankle and lower legs can tremendeously help.
Also, it is nice to practice "legs up the wall" pose, which increases the blood and lymp circulation toward the heart.
Also, doing some ankle and feet exercises can improve the circulation in your lower legs.
Any aerobic exercise, like walking, running, cycling that feel good are recommended as well.
