Well I haven't got much of a routine at the moment but do attemp to have a 45minute walk every night. I also plan to start going to the gym once a week. Is this enough? I was using toning equipment at home but I'm a bit sceptical of using it at the moment as my medication has steroid in it making me get muscle real quick which I don't want!

Hi Little Em

A 45min walk every night is really good! Try and make sure you get a bit out of breath, because this shows that you are exercising at the right level, and forcing your heart to work a bit harder. What type of exercise were you planning to do at the gym? In order to "tone up" you need to do toning exercises every 2-3 days, but I do understand why you wouldnt want to because of the side effects of your medication.

Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge than me will be along soon, but I hope this helps a little bit!

I'm jealous. Try as I might, my muscle size is rubbish. Oh well.

Anyway, I understand you're supposed to do 3 lots of 30 minutes exercise a week to the point where you're getting sweaty and slightly out of breath.

Also, having muscle is good because it helps burn fat.

45 minutes is good. The general recommendation is about 20 minutes of cardio to get any effects. Although, as already mentioned you'd want to up the pace of your walk in order to get the full effects.

Gyms can be quite expensive though. Is it worth it to pay out for a gym when you'll only be using it once a week? What do you plan to do at the gym? Will you be able to do it at home with similar equipment without the same expense?

Well it all depends if you have lot of time, it's good to do exercises. Only walking is not that enough, you can do other exercises like jogging and doing some yoga can add something to your daily exercises. You can have some ideas on women lifting weight by someone who is experienced and says that women don't get so many muscles like men. So it will be helpful in your case because you don't want to have too much muscle.
