Hi, I recently bought a VFit cross trainer/bike, and I would like to know what the average number of calories you should burn if you do half an hour of cross training (with arms)- the monitor on my machine said 90 calories in 30 mins, but i burn more than that walking, so I can't see that that is the right amount? Ive looked a little on the internet and most people say you should burn between 8-12 calories per minute - does this sound about right?
I'm female, weigh 197lbs, and I'm planning on doing 30 min workouts at a time.
I'd really appreciate any advice on this. 🙂
Thanks
Lucy
Calorie Burning
The calorie counters on these home cardio machines are very innacurate, so I would not rely on them at all! You will also find great inconsistencies from one cross trainer to the next.
The exact number of calories your burn will depend upon such factors as your weight, metabolic rate, physical fitness, the resistance you have the machine set to and the RPM you maintain throughout the 30 minute workout (ie your workrate intensity). It would therefore be difficult for anyone posting an answer here to be able to give you a very accurate answer.
However, as a very general 'average', I would expect you to be burning about 230 calories from 30 minutes of moderate intensity training on a cross-trainer.
