Did anyone see a programme on TV the other night showing mainly over 70's body builders.
In some ways it was quite horrific as although hats off to them they were good for their ages I never thought that was a good look on young people let alone people of that age.
What was fantastic though, was a woman of 86....yes 86, who did weight training. She was a black lady out in America and she could lift with ease the equivalent of her own body weight. Her figure was to die for and she didn't look or sound a day over 50.....well done her and lesson to the rest of us.
RE: Body building for the over 70's
Hiya OB
I watched this show, I had no option, hubby had it on as he too is a body builder. Some of those ladies looked amazing, though did have some masculine features in the face.
Hubby actually knew one of the body builders shown, he used to own a gym that my hubby attended.

What Channel was it on? Will it be repeated on Sky somewhere do you think?
RE: Body building for the over 70's
It was on BBC1 pm Tuesday 27th.
`One Life - Body Building Pensioners`
I suppose they may repeat it on BBC3 or 4.

As a side note, I understand that regular weight lifting (although not to the level they're taking it) is good for slowing down the onset of osteoporosis. Is this true?
RE: Body building for the over 70's
Yes Darren. Muscles pull on bone, which promotes bone cell regeneration.
