I planted some vegetable seeds a while ago. My greenhouse blew over and the seed trays were tipped out. I scraped up the soil with the young seedling but they got a bit mixed up. I have managed to sort some of them as they are now a bit bigger but some I have no idea what they are. Can anyone please help?
The first one, the leaves look like two leaves joined together.
The second two both have heart-shaped first leaves but one has smooth second leaves and the other serrated second leaves.
I've got cauliflower, pumpkin, sunflowers, cucumber, broccoli, tomatoes and peppers. I have these planted up and labelled but these few seeds don't look like any of them.
The second one looks like some sort of brassica to me, so probably a cauliflower? The other two I'm not sure about (though t'other half, if she were here would have a better idea)
I would say the first one looks a bit like a sycamore seedling! The third one seems like a brassica of some sort.

Hi Ylangrose.
Process of elimation, they don't look like cucumber, tomatoes or peppers (although some tomatoes like black sea man have strange leaves). I have some caulifower and purple sprouting growing so tom i will take some photos and see if they compare to yours. squash, cucumber, courgette (so i presume pumpkin too) their intial leaves are kind of oval and you get two starter leaves before the others develop Again i will take some photos. Which make of tomato seeds did you sow?
Be in touch tom
Ylangrose the leaves that are like heart shape - cabbage (i will email you direct with photos so you can hopefully match up what you up). I can't remember off hand if you are growing sunflowers, those seedlings will tend to shoot away.
Thank you for the replies.
Sycamore? Hmmm, that must be a rogue seedling because I haven't sewn anything like that.
They can't be cabbages because the only ones I have sewn are the Greyhound that you sent me, Atlanticpearl.
I've got pumpkin and sunflowers growing big now so not them.
I have sewn purple sprouting broccoli so I think some will be that and the rest must be caulies, although they don't look like the ones I know definitely are caulies.
Tomatoes are Gardeners Delight. They are growing a bit slow.
ylangrose, hope your seedlings have now grown a lot for better identifaction for you.
Haven't had much chance to check them out this last week. Just dashed in to water everything and dashed back out again. At work all day tomorrow then off to Dublin till next weekend. Hopefully I'll see what they are by then. Just remembered I planted Morning Glory seeds so some seedlings may be those rather than sweet peas. At least I'll have a few surprises.
