Whilst these may possibly be edible (there are quite a few lawn species that can be eaten), without expertise with fungi you would probably be safer without!
The problem is that they will be fairly difficult to get rid off so I would suggest to contact the company who sold you the turf and get them to replace it.

Good luck

I agree with Masha - contact the people who supplied/laid it, and get them to sort it out. We live near a turf contractor, and a few years ago, they had huge problems with fungi, just in one area near a forestry commission plantation - the only cure was chemicals, which I am sure you will want to avoid in garden used by children - so, contact your supplier and ask for their advice.

thats where the problem lies i have contacted the people who laid it and as i had a delivery of topsoil beforehand(a reputable firm) they now want to lay the blame on the topsoil! i was out there today and there are funghi growing that look like black slodges and there is alot more than i anticipated there must be about 7 different looking types of funghi in the turf and according to the gardener only the red ones are poisonus, that i know to be untrue as i have looked it up on the web, will have to make
some phonecalls tommorrow 🙁

it happens because you have to water the turf until it takes root, the fungi thrives in the excessive damp and will disappear once the roots are established.
