We've had such a lot of lovely veg from our allotment that we took on in late spring this year!

Here are the final pickings:

Makes the hard work and £6pa rent more than worth it!!

It's a great feeling isn't it 😀

You may remember 'helping' us to get our allotment - well hubby is now early retired & our (massive) allotment is taking shape - nearly got earth flattened for our shed at last -will make things a lot easier when we can store tools, etc there.

An allotment fairly makes you more aware of all the bad weather we have,though-or more precisely-the right weather at the wrong time 🙂

Keep up the good work.

That's wonderful Derek - I commend your dedication and hard work! Well worth the effort - and of course the benefit of your own beautiful organic produce 😀

Absolutely right, WildStrawberry!

The soup is delicious!

But the butternut squash is lovely just cut up and cooked like a potato, and the cucumbers as so sweet and delicious that you can (I do!) eat them instead of an apple!

Pumpkin pie is on the menu also, for about the next two months, but the big one I'm saving for a work of art for Halloween!

Justine - I do remember and I'm glad you are still working on it! I don't mind about the weather - if it is nice, there is nowhere better to be than on the allotment, but if it is too bad I just stay in and read a book and drink tea - lovely!

Actually, I could do with a spot of 'bad' weather as the ground is like concrete and I'm refusing to weed and dig until it has softened up a bit!

And thank you, Caroline! I know good, natural, organic food will be top of your list, and what better way to get it than to grow it yourself?

The winter crops are in already, so will have to start thinking about spring now!

Derek's been digging, but how much time was spent?
All his hard work for just six pound rent!
But wow what an outcome with veggies galore
Aren’t you a clever one, show us some more!

I'm far too old to get offended, Yvonne!! And clearly too old to remember someone's name from two posts ago! Where Justine came from, I don't know! Anyway, apologies and no offence taken here!

Thank you Jeannie!! I think that is the first time someone has made a poem about me - well that I know about, anyway!

Derek glad you had a good crop, this year my courgettes didn't perform as well as they have done I still managed to pick about 10 kg of them but very small amount to normal! the cucumbers plants were fab and are still producing...had bumper crops of tomatoes and still picking and lots of peppers including some very hot chillis! what are you planting up for the winter?

There's nothing to eat on the allotment right now, and we are a bit behind with the winter preparations, but my goodness, the morning Glories look - well, glorious!!

Hi Derek,

That's a good little crop you've got considering you've only just taken on your plot. Trust me, when you get going you'll have more than you know what to do with.

We even had to get another freezer to put in our garage to store some of the excess produce we get off our allotment, but at least that helps to keep us going through winter, as well as the many orange boxed full of potatoes and cooking apples that will keep us going till spring.

While I'm at work, the other half is in the process of sorting out all the compost heaps and tidying up for winter, though we've still got a lot of potatoes, parsnips and few other things to dig up yet.

It's really nice to come home and be able to make yourself a meal that you can look at and say "that's completely organic, and we grew it" (well, the plants grew themselves, but you know what I mean hehe!)

All Love and Reiki Hugs

Your Morning Glory is fabulous!! We used to have a similar one trailing over the hedge out in Africa - they always look so cheerful and fresh. 🙂
