Hi guys
Can anyone offer advice or at least tell me Im not alone
Im 38 now and I have for as long as I can recall (maybe from aged 16yrs) Ive suffered with PMT more the mood swing side of things than the physical symptoms. Ive been known to end relationships in the throws of PMT week/fortnight! Have now been with hubby for 9yrs so have thus far avoided that one with him 🙂
So my issue lately is post period pmt, as I sit here tonight I feel utterly fed up, unsociable, down, just feeling like I could gladly dissapear to somewhere else for a few days where I dont need to think, talk or function much atall. I finished my cycle maybe 5-6 days ago ish, and now I feel under my dark cloud again! Ive had this post pmt stuff for maybe a few mths now.
Ive had the chat with gp as I actually don't enjoy being a grumpy cow, neither does my family surprisingly! Ive been offered the mirena (huge mentalblock about something being permanently in there plus Im a nurse Ive seen them inserted, not for me) Ive had implanon twice and diff pills I just bled untilI became anaemic. Ive taken star flower oil and I prefer evening primrose and have been on it for way over a yr now. Gp has offered anti depressants but dont feelIm depressed as such?????????
I would just be grateful to hear that Im not alone.
I am with you on this one but mine is pre PMT this month. Today I am feeling exactly as you describe, don't know if its the moon or planet in disarray but I have been so tetchy and moody and irritable all day and a diversion so I couldnt pick my son up from the train station literally was the end of the world tonight and I could have killed the person who had caused an ambulance and police car to avoid me going down there. I am just starting my period tonight and I feel such relief. I do not normally suffer like this so I am pissed off as to why this month is so bad. I just sat on the loo crying! I hate hormones:(

Hi there.
I've noticed over the years that every month I feel 'low grade ill', tired, bit of a sore throat maybe, and almost depressed - that 'dark cloud' and emotional - like there's no control - very scary! I
've come to the conclusion that it's Pre Ovulation Syndrome - not sure if there's officially anything like that but it appears around day 7 and goes away after day 14 of my cycle, approximately.
It's getting worse and I keep having a complete meltdown every month and can't face leaving the house. Everything is an effort and I'm overwhelmed by silly things (mounting washing up etc.)
I'm going to start treating it like PMT and have just got some PMT vitamins and starflower oil. I've also made up a PMT Bach Flower Remedy mix and may look at what crystals are good for PMT. I don't get very bad PMT at the end of my cycle - before my period starts.
I was offered the Pill (I'm 43 this year, 4 stone overweight and my hubby and I are trying to get pregnant!), mild ant-depressants or counselling. The GP said exercise would help due to the endorphins and me feeling better about myself.
I'm going to try to heal myself through the stuff mentioned above and a clean diet.
It's nice to know I'm not alone!
I'd be interested to know why you prefer Evening Primrose Oil mrsleachy?
love & light xx
Yup, totally get you... Each month before and after my period I am a "Madam". I get into a very dark place and throw regular wobbles over really trivial things... My poor husband.
I too was offered the Pill and did go back on it but bleeding for 6 weeks I came back off it again. I finally just told the GP to put me on Anti-depressants. I've been taking them for 18months now.
I'm less of a madam each month now and don't have the severity of mood swing that I used to. Still feel a bit ugh but nothing like when I'm not on them.
I have been taking Feverfew which seems to help too. It has a calming effect and regulates the menstrual cycle (so I've read). I take it each evening a week before and a week after my period.
many thanks meadowsweet - I will give the FeverFew a go - gonna throw as much as I can at it 🙂
Hi, complementary therapies can be very effective at moderating hormonal fluctuations. You could try homeopathy (it is one of the most common complaints I deal with), acupuncture, the nutritional route, or any other treatment that attracts you. You should expect to see some considerable changes after a few sessions, or even immediately in some cases. HTH Hom
many thanks Hom - I will consider that as well.
