I recently heard that ovulation pain was quite common which I didn't realise. Anyone know of ways to help reduce this naturally - any specific complemetary therapy or nutritional advice would be appreciated.

Think I get that too - is it like a dull pain in lower back?

Mittelschmerz

Also called mittelschmerz. A German word that means "middle pain" - it is simply pain during ovulation. Chances are it occurs midway through your menstrual cycle, about 14 days before your next menstrual period. If so, you're most likely having mittelschmerz.

Up to 50 percent of women experience ovulation pain at some time. Some have it every month; some have it only occasionally. Most of the time, mittelschmerz doesn't require medical attention.

Treatment may involve taking over-the-counter pain relievers. I use massage, reflexology and aromatherapy to help with the pain, cramps and general relaxation.

Heat increases blood flow, relaxes tense muscles and eases cramping, so soaking in a hot bath with essential oils or using a heating pad on your abdomen on the side where the pain occurs may provide some relief.

There are some suggestions that natural progesterone cream, used from the 10th day can be helpful.
