Hello everyone

I am 3 weeks post op after having a Hysterectomy Operation. I had a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy with both ovaries removed due to an Ovarian Cyst and severe Endometriosis. I am only 38 so have not had a natural Menopause yet, but my consultant doesn't really want to put me on HRT because of my age and I don't want to take it because HRT can cause Endometriosis to return. But I am starting with hot flushes, they are not to bad, they only last a few minutes, but I believe it may be the start.

I went to Holland & Barrett yesterday to see what "Natural" substances I can take to help prevent these, but I was just bombarded with lots of different remedies. Thought my best answers would come from here, so here's my question.

What is the best "natural" remedies to help with the Hot flushes, would also like something to help prevent Osteoporosis. Can you reccomend anything?

Angel x

Hi Angel, it's a bit late tonight, but tomorrow I will give you lots of advice on natural alternatives to HRT, plus some great books to read up on. So till tomorrow then...

Hi Angel,
It seems to me that you need a way forward that enables you to live comfortably with the way your hormones are, now that you have had the op. Your body will be trying to regain equilibrium and homeopathic remedies can help with that. All our hormones are interrelated and a holistic treatment to support the body's need to rebalance their production would be good for you and unlike some other options, need not be an especially long term option.
If you want to 'add' hormones, the only way to do that really, would be with HRT- and as you know, it's anything but natural and therefore, can have unwanted side effects. HTH Hom

Thanks Suzanne, I look forward to hearing from you hun. x

Hiya Hom, I hear you hun, there is no way I want to go on HRT, I can't risk the Endo coming back, I don't want to fill my body with all that rubbish either but I need something.

Dr Marilyn Glenville was a tutor of mine at ION, she lectures extensively even to the medics.

One thing I would like to say is that the menopause is not an illness that needs "treatment" but a naturally occuring part of life.

Even surgical induced menopause is do-able (I know).

Regards diet....what do you eat/drink? Avoid all processed foods, aspartame, trans fats etc
