Last summer after having very heavy periods and pains they foind out in the hospital that i have a large fibroid. I got an injection and the fibroid shrank a little then went to get a laparoskopy and d&c done and a mirina fitted in. As i had heart attack and 4 bypasses 5 years ago the doctor didnt want me to have a hysterectomy.she told me my fibroid would shrink as it did but it got huge again when i was in cuba for 4 weeks.I had high feever and kindney infection or something like that with it.I went back to se the doctor in hopspital who told me i need an mri scan and then get maybe an embolization. After about 2 weeks i was still waiting for this scan but relaxed as my fibroids..yes my doctor told me there more then one now..seem to shrink a little, But the last week i'm getting so big..no clothes fit me ..i look like 7 month pregnant..going to the loo all times, having pressure as if i give birth etc. I'm planning to see my gp today and tell her to speed things up. I'm wondering is it not better to have a hysterectomy as i read after embilization some women need it anyway after few years.I'm so confused what to do. I'm working every day but have no engery..i just want this big thing gone!!Help!!!!

RE: Hi there, i'm newhere and i got a problem with fibroids
I am so sorry to hear of your problems. I have small fibriods and was referred to a gynaecologist who suggestd MEA (Microwave Endometrial Ablation). This is much less invasive than a hysterectomy. It involves day surgeryanduses microwaves to destroy and remove the endometrium(inner lining of the womb) so that you no longer get periods or at least they are greatly reduced.
It is reported to be very successful.
Must admit though that for now I have decided to stick with my Mooncup and Tranexamic acid tablets.

Hiya
Just wanted toask abouton the mooncup thing, which I have just learnt about. I have 2 fibroids myself and go through a lot of towels and often fload in the night. Are these mooncup things really all they are hyped up to be. I'm going to boots today to buy one and really excited to try it to see if my life can become slightly more normal again.
Also, you mentioned you were taking tranexamic acid. My doctors prescribed these for me too months ago, do you find they make much difference?
Thanks

I love the Mooncup and its more than paid for itself. You may still need pads on your heaviest days as large clots may weigh it down and cause leakage. Tranexamic acid does work, however I limit taking any medication. I'd only take one if I knew I was going to be stuck in a meeting for more than half an hour.
