Ha wasn't sure how to title this 😀 Anyway I am wondering about an on-going problem I have being really sore around vagina, feels like little paper cuts, sometimes very itchy (no discharge as such) I also have the same problem around anus which I assumed to be fissures. Getting me down now, not sexually active for a hell of a long time (to husbands frustration) but just thought I would mention so as to rule that out.
I was told I had a low white blood cell count a few months ago and going back to have checked tomorrow but could this have anything to do with my very frustrating and horrible problem…anyone???
Oh I also have recurrent sore gums, again like little paper cuts.
I had something similar when I was having chemo. It was soon sorted by a pessary and cream (prescription, not canesten) and then some anti-biotics aimed at a fungal rather than bacterial infection. It was very painful.
Sex? Isn't that what posh people get their coal in???
Tell the doc about it when you go to get checked tomorrow Jeannie.

I agree you must tell the doctor. It could well be a fungal infection and yes it can hit both ends like that . (It can travel from one end of the gut to the other) If your White cell count is low your immunity could well be compromised - exactly as it would be during chemo. (Jabba's experience) There are lots of ways to boost your immune system - Caroline N will know far about it than me but zinc might be a useful supplement .
But TELL YOUR DOCTOR!!!! ANY treatment needs a diagnosis and while it COULD be fungal problems and to do with a poor immune system...it may not be. Only your doctor can diagnose. Good luck
menopause?
menopause?
That could cause vaginal problems - but not normally problems in the mouth however I would never rule ANYTHING out
Not menopause, I had full hysterectomy zillion years ago. Didn't see a Doc this morning just nurse for blood test. Thing is I am thinking if the blood is ok I don't really want to go to see any Doctor, so would it be ok for me to just 'put up with it'
FGS Jeannie! You know what we are going to say..... If it's causing you concern then don't put up with it!!!!!!!
You should have asked the nurse - she may have been able to get some advice for you while you were at the clinic. Blood test unlikely to show fungal infection - or any infection unless they have specifically requested this as part of the blood test, although if it shows a low white count again, there could be something systemic going on.
Please see your doc.

You know we are nagging you for your own good
I also think you should consult a doctor.
Hello all, just a little update following my reluctant Doctor and a Dentist visit. I apparently have something called Lichen Planus in mouth and Lichen Sclerosis other end 'vulva'
I was horrified when Doc said she would make an appointment for hospital where they may need to do a biopsy. When she saw the panic in my face she then said she would try me on a cream, that was a month ago and touch wood it seems to be working. As for my mouth I am in a great deal of discomfort and my gums are all odd to say the least. I also appear to have a muscle problem with jaw which is causing ache/pain even in my ears. Consultant said nothing can be done about this Lichen thing just pain killers and possibly a gum shield for the jaw as I may be clenching too much during the night.
Ah well suppose it could have been much worse and I hate taking medication anyway. Anyone else had these problems, Jabba has posted about this via my post Merc Sol so thanks for that Jabba.

And it is linked to your poor immune system. If you can boost that it may improve the other problems. I am glad you have a diagnosis now ,because you can now have appropriate treatment- which thrush treatments would not have been.
Jeannie - you may find this patient forum useful - lots of ideas on how to cope with the condition from other sufferers:
Thanks Tashanie,
Jabba, I am scared to look !
