Help!! Anyone??!!!!
At the age of 34, I grabbed my moment the other day whilst in House of Fraser, to challenge the lady in the lingerie dept. She took one look and said I was a 30C! I always thought I was 34A!! She was so down to earth and I thought - well, it's about time I got measured. Why I never did this before is beyond me. What a revelation.......But, it's now turned into an obession......
She concluded I was indeed 30C - and she proved it to me. Only trouble is, I'm no ordinary 30C. My boobs broaden by the armpit, and that's why I need a wider cup. But, actually I have hardly anything on the top side. So, most bras are too loose fitting over top of the bust. It seems bras don;t come in a 30C!!! So, I'm having to try on 32C'S. But these just rise up over my boob andthat hurts. She found me a balconette bra - that seemed more flattering for my shape, but only one brand seemed to fit ok, as the band width happened to come up smaller.
BUT,we then realisedthat I have very prominent bones inbetween my boobs - and this means that the balconette style digs in the middle. Oh, the pain and misery!!
My preference would be to wear a 30C non wired bra. Actually, the non-wired bras seem bigger in the cup for some wierd reason. So I bought the M&S T-shirt bra in a 32A!! The cups not too bad - but the band width rises up!!!
Can anyone tell me if they know of a bra company that makes a30 band width above an A cup??????
It seems ludicrous to me that it should be such a rare thing. I look around, and there are loads of women who are narrow up top.
Wot's going on??? How long do I have to stay obsessed??? Someone, please bring me back to earth........
Thankyooooooooooooooooooooooo !
xx
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Hi Loopy!
I used to be a bra fitter. One thing I could suggest is going up to a 32 and down in the cup... so make it at 32B. By going bigger in the back you might find that the C is too big, if that's the case then go down to a B cup.
If you have a look on Figleaves.co.uk then you can search by bra size and might find that there are more 30C's than you realise... I've also read that there is a new website brastop.com but I've not looked on there yet... they might have some?
I have a difficult size too so I hope you find what you're looking for 😀
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Oh and also, if you were measured in House of Fraser I would say that they were taught by Warners or Fantasie so therefore they will fit to a wider selection of makes... I have to say that M&S make their own bras and only fit to their bras... I can't say as I've ever bought anything out of M&S.
You'll find all makes are different sizes just like buying trousers but I really wouldn't recommend M&S as much as I like their Per Una range... Underwear NO! 😀
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
ThanksSiany,
Good advice - however, not in my case, unfortunately. I've splashed out on several bras in a 32B already, and all are rising up at the front, making the wire dig into my little droopers!!!
I definately need a 30 width. I'm now considering trying to somehow get some extra hooks sewn into the back so I can make them tighter. Although.......why the bra manufacturers can't think of making some in a narrower size in the first place is beyond me....... Not all 30 backs are an A cup!!!! I just don;t get it.
You're right about M&S - their fitting came up different - and the bras do too. And I don't like the way they fit either.
Had a look on figleaves.......no joy!!!
I will now check out brastop.com...........fingers crossed!!
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Loopy, I find shopping for bras a total nightmare as nothing ever seems to fit me properly[:@] I am supposedly a 34C but to be honest that seems to vary from shop to shop and from one make to another!! My problem sounds the same as yours- they're more 'spread out' at the sides and so it's hard to get a bra that big enough there but small enough in the actual cups! I have eventually found that it's the shape of the cups that you need to get right more than the exact size- two bras of a 34C but in different makes are a totally different size when you compare them[sm=banghead.gif]I have always maintained that every woman has different shaped breasts, so therefore we can't expect to fit perfectly into any of themanufuctured sizes. Unfortunately I think the only way to get a bra that fits 100% perfectly is to get one made to measure or just wait until a 32C in the right shape happens to find it's way to you!
The saga continues...:D
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Thanks Azalia! What a relief it always is to find someone else with the same 'quirk'. (prefer toview it as that, thana problem!)
It's true - I spent half a day with the ever-patient bra fitters at House of F. All the bras fitted differently - but at the end of it they had to admit defeat! If only a bra maker could read this message.......
And as far as my protruding bone in the middle goes....I'm starting to wonder if I'm all alone on that score.
Have you come across any companies that make bras to measure by any chance? Within London would be best for me.
Do let me know if you have any breakthroughs........ x
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Customised bras in London...hugely expensive but it would have to be Rigby and Peller in Mayfair [link= http://www.rigbyandpeller.com ]www.rigbyandpeller.com[/link]
They can do alterations as well so you may be able to re-use the bras you have already bought. I believe the queen gets hers there!
A friend went during their sale last year and was really impressed!
By the look of the website it is worth going just for the advice!

RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Where would be the best place to get a bra fitting? x
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Rigby & Peller: They can do alterations as well so you may be able to re-use the bras you have already bought. I believe the queen gets hers there!
Is that the queen on the front page of the Rigby Pellerwebsite?[sm=rollaugh.gif]
I'll be serious now.
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Loopy,
I've always found John Lewis to have good fitters, much better than the other department stores.
I was going to suggest this company, but they start at a D cup!
If any ladies who are a D cup or above with a small back size need a good place to buy bras, bravissimo.comis the place.
(I'm a 32 F or 30FF depending on the make, and they have 28J in one or 2 styles...)
Their London shop is in Ealing, they have a growing number of shops elsewhere in the country. GET A FITTING THERE!
Doesn't help a 30C girl though...
Rigby and Peller are good, often have U.S. brands you can't find elsewhere, but can be rather expensive - but hell, you have to wear your boobs all the time, so it's worth looking your best!
Good luck!
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Hi loopy,
I have the same problem with getting a bra thats fits!! I have quite a big cup size but i'm sure i'm in between and C and a D (mainly because i find that C cups are too small for me and D cups are sometimes too big), but i guess it just depends on which brand you buy. When i find a bra that does fit, i usually buy loads in one go (in different colours), because i know that i probably won't find another like it in a while. So, i would suggest that when you do finally find a bra you are comfortable with....stock up!!
Hope this helps
Kate:)
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Yay I'm booked in with John Lewis on sunday to find out what exactly my boobs are.....size wise (although I'm sure they have minds of their own)!!!!
God I hope i don't end up being told i'm a million sizes bigger than they are (I'm 36C i think) but i still think that's too big for me! I was perfectly happy as a 34b! x
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Hi
Someone's already mentioned this, but Bravissimo are absolutely brilliant! It's so hard to find 30 bras anywhere, but they stock loads, and measure you. They started off as mail order but they do have some shops (manchester and glasgow) and maybe others. I think they're brill!
I swear by the Fantasie brand, they are the only ones that seem to fit. I find the Panache brands are really tight and small.

RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Hello Loopy!
I too am always on the lookout for bras in a size 30C. (that's actually how I came across your post. It came up on my google search!!) I am built like you, fuller on the sides and not much in the middle or at the top. I ordered from figleaves.com with no luck. I had to send the bras back. I work at Victoria's Secret and I do bra fittings. Like a another member had posted, 32B is a sister size. I measure a 30C, but until I am able to find that pefect 30C bra I wear a 32B. There's two bras that I can recommend to you (that are available in a size 32B): the VerySexy Push-up with new infinity edge and the IPEX wireless. The VerySexy bra does have padding, but it looks very natural and the underwire does not come up high so it won't poke you.The band also runs small on this bra. The IPEX wireless is just extremely comfortable. I checked on the website. They do have international shipping. It wasn't exactly cheap, but then again after a recent trip to the UK (I live in the US), I know the value of the dollar is a lot less than the pound! I hope this helps and if you do decide to order them that maybe you'll like these bras as much as I do.
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Hmmm bras - i have very few good fitting bras - i always buy 36b although i was measured 34C - i have yet to find a 34c bra that fits me comfortably - depending on the style and the expense - the cheaper the bra the better it seems to fit so i buy Asda bras, the ones that come in packs.
I do have one really expensive bra that cost a staggering £50 36b and it fits beutifully and is lasting forever.
The one thing that i do find is that when putting on a bra that you need to bend over forwards and shake your chest into the cups, this does help to see if the bra fits well.
Also as our monthly cycles change i find that my boobs change size and so bras that fit me part of the month just don't contain me other parts - t shirt bras or anything that show a bit of cleavage aren't good - nothing worse than bending over then realising that one boob escaped - i cant do wonderbras in any size.
One of my best fitting bras is actually a 36A and like you said it's not underwired and the cup definately feels bigger than and A cup- i buy bras that fit now rather than sticking to a particular size, i find that different brands come in different sizes like clothes do.
I also find that as i lose weight i need a smaller bra and same the other way so if you are going to be measured its probably good to get measured for every bra that you buy - i woud never get measured again - the last bra i was measured for was my wedding bra for under my dress - brilliant, the day of the wedding i had this huge set of things under my dress and nothing to fill them and worse one of the sticky bits unstickied and i dropped lop sided - i haveover astone since i got married and i tried that bra on recently and even with a much fuller chest it is too big for me - i bought the right sized bra according to the measurements and its just never going to fit - i may measure c cup but c cup is always too big.
I'd actually not wear a bra at all, there comes a time in my life when comfort is a must and having myself strapped up all day long really isn't my idea of comfort - at almost 40 and with everything falling south having em rounded up and pointing in the right direction just doesn't seem that important.
Good luck with finding the right bra - just trying to work out how much i have spent on bras over the last 30 years....

RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
I've been meaning to add to this thread since I saw it - I too went and got measured and am a 30C, and the only place I've found that does bras is La Senza.....and that's not all ranges. If anyone knows of any other stores I'd be grateful for the knowledge!

RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Wow, it is so nice to find that there are other people out there with a 30C bra size!! When I was told I was this size, I looked at myself and thought, well I am not so different to a lot of people, so why aren't there more bras in this size, there should be a national campaign for every woman to get a bra fitting, demand will force better supply!!
I have found that Elle McPherson bras come up small, so find her 32D really comfortable, I still can't believe I am actually wearing a D cup though, for most of my life I happily wore a 34B!!!
I hope this info is of some help!!! xxx
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Hey, um i found this website [link= http://lingerie.midnightliaison.co.uk/30c/bra.aspx ]http://lingerie.midnightliaison.co.uk/30c/bra.aspx[/link]
it really helped me find my size, 30c!
Hope it solves some of your problems!!
EDIT: Font size.
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
Am I missing something here:eek:Loopy and Summer are recorded as "Males":D
RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
LOL :Dno, it's just that the settings are defaulted on "Male" so if female membersdon't change them to "Female" we end up with lots of "male" members with girls' names.
This can be checked/changed via Settings, at the top of any page. Some members choose not to give their gender at all.

RE: Bra - size 30C ?????
My God, I've been struggling with the same problem alone (i thought) for years! I'm also a 30C! Why has no one designed for us petite lasses yet, i mean is it so crazy for someone to have a narrower back than 32. I've been wearing 32A and they're too big at the back and the bones dig in at the sides. At selfridges they suggested i try a 32B in a brand that comes up small at the back- French brands are good or Elle Mcpherson sometimes. Is this our only hope?!
Some brands do a 30 back but only begin cup sizes from a D, what madness is this?...surely it follows that a small back might also mean a smaller bust?!!!
Help!
I have also been measured 30C at Rigby and Peller in London back in 2007.
I always thought I was 32B or 34B and kept buying ill fitting bras for 10 years.
(so unhappy I was wearing the wrong size bras that on few occasions I had to pop into the bathroom while out/at work/at college and just take off the bra I was wearing for the rest of the day, because it was making me feel very uncomfortable:009:)
I bought a few bras from Rigby&Peller (though pricey at £35 - £50 each) and they fit wonderfully :), are beautiful with very pretty detailing in comparison to the bras I had purchased in the past (mostly M&S and a few other brands including CK).
Given how much my new bras from R&P cost (:026:) I do make sure I wash them either on Hand Wash cycle in the washing machine using Hand wash detergent or I actually hand wash them myself.
Having had 5 bras from R&P for 1 year, they all still look "as new" (:045:) maybe because I do take care of them having paid a small fortune for them. But the money was worth every penny I have to say.. 🙂
I no longer feel uncomfortable because of an ill fitting bra and when it comes to feeling confident when getting undressed at gym/swimming pool/dress maker/at home in front of my partner, I just feel like I look the part and I do not mind taking off my top off anywhere.
(In fact when I can I try to take a peak at myself in the mirror! :005:).
It has literally changed my life and I learnt to like my new size 30C! 🙂
In fact I am proud to be 30C! (much better than a B size I thought I was before..;))
The bras I got from R&P are:
Aubade (30C, plunged, padded style in white)
or here (with 10% discount, April 2008)
Marie Jo (30C, Avero, underwired white, black and nude - this one is multiway style)
[DLMURL] http://www.affairlingerie.com/lingerie_detail.asp?prod=608 [/DLMURL]
Patricia (30C, Viviane, Ivory colour lace style)
[DLMURL] http://www.rigbyandpeller.com/brands/Patricia/Viviane/index.aspx [/DLMURL]
I would reccommend to all of you ladies to get fitted in Rigby and Peller. It is a wonderful experience, they do not use a measuring meter, they just use their eyes and experience to tell you what size bra you are.
I would reccommend that you go to the store near Harrods in Knightsbridge or the Sloane Square store rather than the very busy Conduit St. store near Oxord street. I know they have a Brent Cross store as well but I have not been to that one I am araid.
If you go there, be prepared to take a number ticket and queue (sit on a comfortable chair in their shop while reading a book or a magazine you brought with you) for up to 1hr. The latest to get to their store is 1hr before closing time, though they may have many customers and will not take any more customers for fittings on the day. I would however recommend that you do not leave it this late in order to ensure that you are given the necessary amount of time to try all of the bras they bring you to try on.

Very interesting that Holistic (last para).
Is that what they call hedging your bets?:D:confused:
We have a bloke at work who is 'sometimes' a woman. Went on a course with hi/er and at swimming pool during the evening he went into the ladies changing room much to the disquiet of the girl in there.
Anyway thats an observation and completely off topic, absolutely nothing to do with bra sizes at all.;)
I might have known if you were posting in a thread about women's bras, you'd be up to no good, Windy! 😉 😀
Just for the record though, that post of mine you quoted was made over two years ago, when we were on the previous version of HP, ie prior to August 2007. What I said then was quite correct, but since the big changeover, the option to check a box to state whether you're a male or female doesn't exist, so unless of course members choose to tell us, or it's otherwise obvious from profile info or posts, we don't always know.

30C Bra - is out there!
There's a website
I'm a 30D and always looking for padded / moulded bra's as the Freya ones tend not to have this, Mimi Holliday is brilliant they are bit expensive at £40 ish but worth it! Just make sure hand wash them I put one in the machine and ruined it.
Try Elle Macpherson 32B's as they are so small in the back size, might even need a 32C I need to wear a 32D in these ones as can be bit small in cup size too.
30C's do exist! Just hard to find, even more than the 30D's I'd guess! Good luck 🙂
I know the pain of being a 30C myself and it gets really annoying trying to find my size.
Places that I have been lucky to find the 30's are the higher end stores, Marry Jo is a great bra they are worth the money. I get only 1 a year and they last through everything (including the university washing machines). The marry Jo has the halter top style or the strappless with changeable straps.
The other places I've been lucky to find bras are stores that specialize in the European sizing since they cater to the small sizes or I would say realistic sizes.
Find the one you like and watch for sales.
the best advice by quality and not quantity, you will save more money in the end.
Best place to look
Actually for a 30c ,underwire or nonwire, the best place to find bras are in kids section. Hope this helps 🙂
