hi all,
Funny one this, i have suffered from very mild excema as a child which has dissappeared almost completely.
Over the Xmas break I had a nasty cold and was very run down and feverish, about 4 days into the cold I came out in a rash very similar to excema yet in very small patches over my arms and chest.
Has anyone else experienced this at all, any suggestions? Do I treat this like excema or does it sound like something else?
Thanks
one slightly itchy Amy!
RE: Rash after nasty cold
Sorry to hear about your rash.
It sounds like it is completely connected to the cold - the Lungs and Skin are closely linked.
Without further info, I can't really be sure, but it sounds like quite a healthy response to the nasty cold you had, in that the toxins are being released through your skin. My inclination would be just to leave it a wee bit longer, take plenty of rest and try to regain your energy after the cold.
I would strongly advise against using any steroid based creams on the rash, as this will just push the toxins back to your lungs. Whilst skin problems are unsightly and can be uncomfortable, it is often a good sign that you body is fighting the illness at this "level" rather than deeper inside your body.
Please let me know how you get on, and whether the rash is still there in a few days to a week.
Best wishes
Aragorn
RE: Rash after nasty cold
Hi Amy,
Four days with a cold and then a skin rash - sounds like your immune system is telling you something.
Hope your feeling better now and the itch is calming down.
best regards Colin
RE: Rash after nasty cold
Thanks guys,
I am hardly ever ill, last time I had a cold was easter 2004. I have been very stressed and run down, so i think you might be right about my body trying to tell me something.
I have just come thru a really nasty time with my old job and have just started a fantastic new job so hopefully now I can take time to recouperate.
Will ride it out and see how it is in a few days, much better now, so I will just try to not itch it!
Thanks for the help
