Has anyone got any suggestions as to what I can use to improve the condition of my nails? I've had psoriasis of the nail bed for years. There's no cure for it, so I keep my nails short and
try not to have them in water too long. I've tried all sorts of creams, nail treatments etc but nothing seems to work :016:
I hate the way my nails look as people tend to think it's a fugal infection which it isn't :o:dft001: (I had an infection on my big toe nail which I took tablets for; my finger nails remained the same but the toe nail cleared up) Also my nail clippings were sent for analysis.
I could cover them with nail polish but this tends to make them really dry and I can't stand the smell 😮

I recommend coconut oil for almost anything nowadays and it is no exception in this case regarding your issue .

UNREFINED COCONUT OIL | eBay

I get a variety of brands to be honest make sure its unrefined / virgin / cold pressed .

There are many that are in the supermarkets that refer to being 'pure' coconut oil and they are as cheap as chips as they say, but I wouldn't touch them .. apparently 'pure' is a label that they can use and it is misleading for it is not the same as unrefined which is what you want .

I have used the pink sun brand a few times .. I hope the ebay listing has linked .

I haven't got a solution for your problems Iolanthe, but I found these two sites in my files which you might like to look at, just out of interest:

coconut oil

Daz - my local independent chemist is ordering some pure coconut oil in for me. Thanks for your suggestion. I presume it will take a while before I see an improvement?

I read somewhere that for nails it takes months to improve - but you yourself should be able to see tiny changes before then, I expect. xA

I would say that the improvement will not be sudden. It will be gradual. You may first notice improvement in three weeks time or maybe more. It would be better if you do more than just my applying coconut oil. I just read from one article that oilated oat extracts are of good help in psoriasis. I'm not sure if it's psoriasis in general or just a specific part of the body.

5 months ago i visited dead sea to treat my psoriasis. That was useful and good, but when i came back home, the effect began to disappear. So i have found topical psoriasis treatment with minerals and salt from the dead sea - psoeasy psoriasis cream (shampoo, lotion). Now it helps to keep my skin in order.
