When I play football on grass, with football boots on, the skin on the soles of my feet tend to get rubbed raw (and then peel off). It is not the boots, as I have tried many, many pairs. So how do I harden the skin on the soles of my feet?
RE: How to harden the skin on the soles of my feet?
Hi Triathlon
I don't know why I know this - it's a memory from my childhood and I can't remember why I wanted to harden the soles of my feet, but I did - but if you soak a cotton wool pad in surgical spirit and then wipe it on your feet, say once a night for a week or so, then your skin will harden. I don't know if there's any modern reason not to use this method - I remember that it works.

Ha ha, we used to do this at school, so we could go barefoot more comfortably on the gravel paths. Our parents COULD afford shoes, but there was a craze for going barefoot. Yes,surgical spiritworked ... and the smell of it takes me back a few years! 😀

When my daughter was doing ballet and she started dancing on pointe her dance teacher told her to use surgical spirit to harden the skin so that it didn't rub and hurt while dancing so much.
