Hiya Everyone
A couple of years ago I had acne on my chin area so bad, huge red blind spots would appear every few days and nothing the doctor gave me would work, so I begged her to put me on Dianette which worked a treat and the spots cleared up completely.
Yesterday I went to get another perscription, but the doctor refused to give me them, saying I had being on them for 2 years and they were only allowed that long to be given out to a patient. I was guttered.
She gave me another medication called Oxytetracycline. Has anyone used this medication in connection with Acne, if so how did you find it? Did it work?

RE: Does This Medication Really Work?
Hi,
I've been on Dianette for a long time, 2-3 years now. I talked to my dr about coming off of it and he said you DIDN'T have to, but it is slightly more at risk of causing clots so if I *wanted* to I could try a different pill. I tried that one for 2+ months and every day it got a little bit worse(acne) until I went back to the nurse this week and was put back on the dianette. I don't know your medical history, so maybe there is a reason your dr doesn't want you on it now, but it seems different dr's feel differently about it(like so many other things).
Anyway-the other one sounds like an antibiotic? tetracycline? I took that for a while too, in conjunction with the bcp(wasn't using the bcp purely for bc so was ok) and it did help to calm things down for me and then the bcpill kept the rest under control.
I'd say see what works best for you and talk to your dr about it. Maybe do a bit of research on the net to back up whatever it is you decide. Don't know if I've been much help at all, but you aren't alone. x beth

Hi Angel
I've used Dianette and it worked fine for me too. I still have bad skin which I manage with a complicated mix of skincare and diet and supplements. Not worth me telling you what that it is because I suspect that the things that make my skin worse (oranges, tuna for example) will have no affect on you.
However there is a magazine holistic GP (Mark Atkinson) who I quite respect because he gives really decent advice about supplements and diet. Anyway he recommends this system: [link= http://www.sher.co.uk/. ]http://www.sher.co.uk/.[/link] I've had a look through the site, and it looks fairly impressive (some of the case of acne are pretty bad, MUCH worse than mine) and it helped those people.
It's expensive (a hell of a lot more than the £6 for Dianette) and is a combination of supplements, skincare, colloidal silver, and water. I can't speak from experience - but to be honest I think it'll only be a matter of months before I do try it.
Anyway, have a look at the website. Perhaps it's something that you can think about if you get desperate (like me!)

Hiya Ladies
Thank you both for your wonderful advice, apparently you can only stop on Dianette for skin probs for 2 years. (Or so my doctor said, may it is just this area that makes that rule so.) Anyhow it is just as well I came off it because the doc found a clot in my leg -thought it was a varicose vein, turns out it is Phlebitis.
I will check out the website and see what comes up.

Hi Angel. I think I have succumb to my own temptation - the browsing of that site for you has meant that I've almost convinced myself to order the program. £175 - ergg. I'm going to wait until after the New Year, and see if I still feel the same. I blame you for making me think of this site!!

Taking these tablets are only masking the root cause, there has to be a root cause causing your bad skin conditions.
I would recommend you go and see a kineisologist who will actually ask your body what is causing the problem.
Money well spent and at least it will get to the root of the problem.
Man-made chemicals are not the answer, they will only hide the real issue and at the same time they come with side-effects which will weaken your aura/energy field and long term even cause other issues.
