I have hormonal acne around my chin, I've had a prescription of a cream called DUAC which is supposed to be used daily but I only use it when the acne is bad.

Anyhow,

FIRSTLY:
a colleague recommended using a Progesterone Cream as she said it would help with my hormonal fluctuations, you apply this 14 days a month twice a day on your body. I've been using this now for nearly 3 months.

SECONDLY:
I've been eating more of a low carb diet this past month, I've cut down on bread, cereal, potatoes, rice and pasta greatly.

My skin has been looking a lot better, not much acne activity, less blotchy skin, not so reactive.

Do you think its the progesterone cream or the low carb diet or both?

Hi,

I am currently working on a brand new television series for Channel 4 called ‘The Food Hospital’ (working title). The idea of the programme is to explore the possible health benefits of everyday foods in targeting a wide range of medical conditions and symptoms. I am hoping this will be of interest to you as acne is something we are wanting to look at.

There’s plenty of evidence to say that our health and our diet are closely linked and current scientific research shows that certain foods can be used to treat some illnesses and / or their symptoms.

Patients attending ‘The Food Hospital’ will be advised by our team of medical professionals, including a GP, a specialist medical Consultant and a leading Dietitian. Using evidence-based, cutting-edge scientific research, the team will prescribe specific diets for the treatment of the patients’ conditions or symptoms.

The team will welcome patients with serious illnesses and everyday ailments alike. The treatment that the Food Hospital will offer is intended to be followed in conjunction with the patient’s existing medical regime, and the Food Hospital medical team will endeavour to work collaboratively with the patient’s current medical advisors.

We are currently looking to speak to people who might be interested in knowing more about ‘The Food Hospital’. This could be people who are living with a condition which affects their life, or people who have recently started to experience symptoms they wish to address.

Please don't hesitate in getting in touch: @betty.co.uk">edd.buckley@betty.co.uk

With many thanks,

The only way to tell is to see what happens if the stop the diet part.....but keep on using the cream - give it a couple of weeks. If your acne doesn't return you could then try the diet side without the cream for another couple of weeks and see what happens.

Haven't tried progesterone cream but I've tried ikure skincare cream for my skin infection and i guess it works well. I even wonder where to get such product because it was only given to me by my aunt.

Maybe you have a clue on how manuka honey works, but not entirely clueless on how it clears that acne you are suffering. The usage of this type of honey has shown much success in acne treatment.

For so many centuries, honey has been totally known because of its healing effects. Now, with the updated technology, information is now available on why this is proven to be true. When bees digest the pollens of manuka flowers, they will produce a natural form of hydrogen peroxide which we all know a wonderful antiseptic that cleans the infection from wounds.

If the doctor advises you to use active manuka honey for a skin condition, it is usually because it has a higher percentage of this antiseptic hydrogen peroxide than any regular honey does. It is this higher content of hydrogen peroxide which makes this kind of honey a preferred treatment in clearing acne. Unlike other prescription treatments used for acne, this special type of honey is all natural and will not dry your skin out.

My wife was having cellulite and she also feels very itchy on that part of the skin. Which left some spots similar like acne, so does this progesterone cream will work to remove those spots? Or suggest some of the meilleur anti cellulite treatments to get rid from cellulite.

Well I think the result is due to both your efforts. As what we consume, directly effects our skin. Thus having a proper diet like eating green leafy vegetables, fruits and lots of water helps a lot to make your skin healthy.

If I had to pick one I'd say the progesterone cream. It has helped my acne immensely. Curious, what brand do you use?

I've used Progesterone before, and it can be very helpful for clearing skin. Although diet is definitely a contributing factor, I don't think carbs will contribute much to the loss, you'll mainly want to cut out greasy foods or general bad diet junk.

The carbs referred to above are starchy carbs, of which most of us eat too many. They are often component parts of overly processed foods, also.
There's no evidence that 'greasy' foods (by which I assume you mean those with fat in them) contribute to acne. We need fat in our diet - probably more than we are led to believe.

I find cosmetics with natural collagen extremely helpful for the problems with acne. My friend, who used to have very problematic skin helped herself applying such cosmetics regularly.
