I had my flu jab on Wednesday last week, and since about Friday amsuffering with wheeziness and am needing to use a reliever inhaler about 4 times a day - does anyone know if this is likely to be a reaction to the flu jab? I've no other symptoms, other than feeling tired, but have put this down to the wheeziness.
I have the jab every year and can't ever remember having a reaction before. About 6 weeks ago I had a strange cold that didn't develop into the runny nose I usually have, but stayed on my chest and gave me a nasty cough for about 3 weeks until I saw my GP who prescribed 7 days of antibiotics, and it went away.
I was diagnosed with mild asthma about 10 years ago, but don't need a preventer and rarely ever need a reliever inhaler - in fact it usually goes out of date before I even use it. I needed the inhaler with the cold/infection I had 6 weeks ago, but nowhere nearas much as I've needed it over the last couple of days.
I know I should see my GP really. I've just been hoping that over the weekend it'd clear up

RE: ? reaction to flu jab
Hi Ali,
I think that this new 'flu jab is different to last year's. I too, have experienced cold-like symptoms and slight wheeziness since I had it last Monday. They are easing off now, and it is probably a result of the 'flu jab, but if your symptomdoesn't go, consult your GP.
Love,
Patsy.

RE: ? reaction to flu jab
Thanks for the reply, Patsy.
Well after another night without sleep due to the wheeziness I was getting quite worried so made an emergency appointment with my GP this morning. He didn't seem concerned, though I had only just taken my reliever inhaler before seeing him so I was breathing quite well then.
He's put me on the preventer inhaler as well now, so that should help.
Strangely, apart from needing a puff of the reliever inhaler this morning, I've been fine since. Not at all like I have been for the past 4-5 days. So, like you Patsy, maybe it has been related to the flu jab. Anyway, I'm just relieved it's all better now.
