My father has a clot on his lung and is on wafferin blood thinners (its taking weeks to regulate his bloods which have gone in the extreme ends from 5.8 to now 1.8.. I am having a complete block on what i can do to in any way help! (I practice acupressure, swedish and reflexology) He is fairly fit normally and it was due to the excellence of his local gp that it was discovered in the first place. His diet is not too bad, tho he is prone to drinking the odd bottle of wine of an evening.. aside of the obvious - telling him not to... does anyone have any advice for how i can help.
Thanks in advance
Oh gosh, big subject. On a desert island perhaps, but right now he's better off with medical care, alternatives just get overwhelmed by the brute force of anticoagulants. Clinically what you do once he's over the worst will be more relevant.
So probably not appropriate to be specific here, and unlikely helpful.
So in the meantime, it's down to the basics - keep his spirits up (and yours), make sure he keeps well hydrated and doesn't resort to junk food and old bad habits. Keep bowels moving, and if he's still in hospital bring him food parcels and don't let him eat the stuff provided.
Leg massages probably NOT a good idea.
Best wishes.
