Hi, Since qualifying in reflexology I've been treating clients for about 6 months, so not a vast amount of experience! I haven't been presented with a pregnant client as yet - but there is one waiting in the wings, so to speak...my daughter (her first baby)
She is now 16 and a half weeks so I'm sure it will be safe to proceed with treatment, and she is looking forward to it, but I feel apprehensive.
I would really welcome some advice (even though it may seem I'm being over-fussy?) Do I just do a 'normal' but gentle treatment? Go very lightly on repro areas? I really want to do a short course on maternity Rx, as I know quite a few on HP have done this - BUT at the moment finances just won't stretch and I have some saving up to do first.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated, sorry to labour the point here ('ouch') Ella loves Rx (last year she was my case study!) and struggles a lot with back pain so trtment would help a lot, I'm sure...

Best wishes,

Marie

How exciting! Your daughter is lucky she has you to help her. I'm sure your treatments will be wonderful. You are right, go easy on the reproductive area and give shorter treatments.

You will be able to do a maternity reflexology course one day, just be positive.

Let us know how the treatments go

seek and ye shall find....(!)

Many thanks for your reply *serendipity*, and Maggie.
Have been trawling through the reflexology forum for about an hour (lol - good job it's the relatively 'quiet season' for some of us!!) and although at first I only seemed to find posts relating to clients in the later stages of preg, I eventually found plenty of requests for advice/support from others who, like me were wanting to treat clients from the fourth month onwards. Perseverance was needed!! Found it all very helpful.
Maggie, thanks for your kind comments - yes, I will come back and say how things went during treatment. Nothing arranged just yet (daughter works full time), but shouldn't be long.

Warm wishes,
Marie

Maternity reflexology

Hi
May i direct you to this forum......
I have done the course with Moshe and it is wonderful you may find some interesting pieces of information.

Personally from about 12/14 weeks it is quite safe to do reflexology on a pregnant lady. Be mindful of her past history - unstable pregnancy and also bleeding. If an IVF client may be wise to check with consultant - it also depends on why she wants the treatment - for relaxation i guess?? There is no need to stimulate the reproductive organs at this stage. Just the spine and solar plexus for relaxation and also other reflexes if she is suffering with backache, sickness, constipation etc. Just go gently and if in doubt do not treat.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes
