Your symptoms sound to me like mercury leaking. Do you have any mercury fillings? Of course, there are other ways to accumulate mercury, but that is the first one to come to mind.

Having said that, you will probably discover it is something entirely different!

Are you anaemic by any chance? Takig iron supplements can cause a metallic taste in your mouth, and the anaemia could cause the symptoms you are describing.

Also, dont forget that you will feel more easily tired if you are not ensuring an adequate supply of nutrients, as the baby will always get what it needs at your expense!

hi nisha,

i think most women experience the metallic taste in early pregnancy... i got it before i even had a pregnancy test confirmed.

i dont know what it signifies, but it didnt last long. then the good stuff starts, like morning sickness, tiredness, etc etc 😮 ;).

but if you are at all worried, speak to your midwife.

Hello everyone,

I am anaemic and taking iron tablets..(when i remember to take them...as my memory is terrible since pregnant). The strange thing is that I'm 31 weeks pregnant and only now getting this metallic taste. I didn't get it in th early weeks.

Anyone have any ideas as to how to mask it or get rid of it if possible?

Thanks everyone!

Nisha

Chlorella is supposed to get rid of a metallic taste in the mouth, Nisha. But you should check it is ok to take in pregnancy first. Also, perhaps you should switch to a different iron - there are so many that don't cause problems, such as constipation, etc. etc.

If you are only taking the iron supplement when you remember, are you absolutely sure it is the sole reason for the taste?

Nisha, did you find the reason for the metallic taste in your mouth?

I have had the same for the last three days, and soon going to the Dentist to find out what the problem could be.
