Hi all

My husband finally suggested I come off the pill last night! Hurrah!!

I'm wondering what top tips you have for me, I've been on Yasmin most recently, but on the pill for about 12 years, what should I expect by coming off?

Look forward to hearing from you!

Amie

Hi Acam

What fantastic news. Good luck with your trying. Although it may take a few months for your body to get back to normal after being on the pill. With my first it just took 4 months after stopping the pill! Some are quicker than others.

I look forward to some happy news from you - good luck and have FUN with it.

Hi

My advice to you is to just stay relaxed about it, and it will happen when the time is right. There are times of months when you are the most fertile, be aware of there, but dont obsess about it, just try to stay relaxed and enjoy!!

You can start to prepare your body by taking pregnacare tablets, or well woman, these have the folic acid and Iron you need, as well as other vitamins and minerals.

Also cut down on cafine and alcohol.

Good luck - keep us updated.

Good luck on your exciting journey towards having a baby!! Everyone reacts differently when they come off the pill. Some go back to normal cycles almost immediately while others can take a while to rebalance. So be patient and take folic acid and any other supplements (pregnancy safe ones) you feel you need. If you're prone to anaemia it may be an idea to take a gentle iron supplement like Floradix, for example. Start thinking about what you are eating and drinking, and your partner too, and get your body ready to conceive and grow a baby!
