There is no evidence that first trimester use of fluoxetine leads to higher rates of pregnancy loss or increased risk of fetal abnormality [ref's 1-4]. There is consistency among the animal and human studies and significant numbers have now been accrued (about 1000 first trimester exposures in all)
From the womens-health website but if you google floxetine in pregnancy there is loads of info
This is also a good website that has loads of info on depression in genral and getting the support you need during this time.
Of course you must also see your gp asap to discuss all your options
ps i dont know why this is all underlying it wont come off 8o!
good luck anyway baby 4 yikes :)xxx
If it were me, I'd ensure wellbeing and be off the fluoxitine before trying (the pharmaceutial companies have not tested it in pregnancy - only in animals and they say to be on SSRI's 'only if the potential benefit outweighs the risk'). The developing foetus is incredibly sensitive to chemicals and one doesn't want to risk damaging them! Make sure you are having enough folic acid though to stop possible neural tube defects - and eat plenty of oily fish with wholesome organic vegetables.
The fish should also help your depression (3-5 portions per week) plus this helps the baby's brain which consists a big proportion of these essential fatty acids. You can also have a look .
