Hello all

I have just found out that I am expecting my first baby and my lord its not just the shock of that thats knocked me for six its the tiredness, the nausious feeling that just will not go away and the constant trips to the loo.........only through the night I hasten to add!
I am coming up to 7 weeks and the thought of having to keep going through this for another 5 weeks is just filling me with dread. I feel awful!!
I am so so tired I feel I could sleep for a thousand years!
I have been drinking ginger ale which hasnt really helped although organic ginger ale felt like it was burninhg my insides out which distracted me from feeling sick, ginger biscuits havent helped.......I bought the acupuncture wrist bands which are great but they say not to wear them all the time! I have been trying to eat small meals through the day but again havent noticed any change.
I am thinking of trying some homeopathic remedies but not sure which ones I can take.
Also are herbal teas ok to drink? I drink a lot and since finding out I am pregnant have stopped altogether in case its doing more bad then good

Any help would be greatly received!!

hi joannemi,

congratulations!

yes, try reflexology and dont be put off by a therapist that says no in the first trimester... find one that knows what they are doing with pregnancy... theres quite a few around nowadays.

so nice to see our midwife/ reflexologist (glynis) advocating reflexology!! :o)

Hi
If you go to the association of reflexology web page
you will be able to find a reputable reflexologist in your area.

Hi Jo,

Firstly congratulations! I know what you mean about the shock, I too am nine weeks gone and spent the first week after we found out in a total zombie-like state!
I have been lucky in not suffering from sickness (which according to family history could mean a girl, so I'm told) but I have been drop down asleep in the street tired, especially after about 7pm. Last night I was in bed by 8pm (and I'm usually a regular midnight girl), I sometimes feel a bit squicky in the late morning/lunch time period and the only thing I have found that seems to help me is drinking plenty of cool water and lying with my feet raised (no idea why this helps but seems to work for me- although highly impractical in works toilets!)
Good luck hon, and remember you're not on your own! pm me if you fancy a chat! 😉

I specialise in maternity care with reflexology and I'm finding that most of my pregnant clients are being recommended to have the treatment by their midwives. GPs tend to say no to it, at least in the first trimester. But I'd rather listen to a midwife than a GP when it comes to maternity care. They are the experts after all 😉

Congratulations Jo and Gail!

Hi Lynne
its nice to hear there are practitioners out there taking notice of us midwives.
I find more and more of my collegues interested in alternative therapies that help pregnant women.
keep up the good work

My pleasure Glynis. [sm=hug.gif] I just wish the clinic director would stop grabbing all the pregnant clients for herself (she's a homoeopath) and only send them to me for induction! If they just came for reflexology throughout they'd be less likely to need induction.

RE: First Trimester....

Congratulations girls, I am now 34.5 weeks gone and it does get better. Infact after a few weeks I felt better then I have ever felt and my skin glowed, my nails and hair looked great and I had lots of energy and felt a glow inside that I can't describe. Listen carefully to your body and eat and drink what you feel you need. Always make sure you have some nuts or dates in your bag, I would get really hungry and I would just have to eat immediately. I went mad on strawberries and later read they are fab for the baby. Get lots of sleep and drink lots of water. Oh and top shop have a maternity dept which sell cool comfy maternity jeans, I lived in mine until a couple of weeks ago, now I am getting really big and just slop around in jogging pants.

My biggest recommendation is prenatal yoga, it has helped me feel normal!

xxxx lots of love

Thanks Nev, that's good advice! I sent my beloved out to the chip shop at 9.30 the other night because I simply had to have chips! (I don't normally eat them).

No luck for me in Top Shop though as I have a huge bust and have never been able to shop there - even without being preggers![sm=rollaugh.gif]

Hi Cazwix, firstly I am sorry to hear you have had a nasty phone call (will reply to you on other post)

Me and Jeremy couldn't wait, and found out we are having a little boy. We are just so excited! I like the name Jayden(JJ for short) Then we will be Genevra, Jeremy and Jayden what a mouthful! Oh it I think he will be an earth sign just like his mum and dad.

As you can probably tell I am so happy to have a wonderful family to love and be loved within, its got to be the best thing in the world!

RE: First Trimester....

hello

congratulations on the pregnancies - I had horific morning noon and night nausea and some sickness through my first trimester and the tiredness was worse than when you have new born in the house!! But I have to say that reiki and reflexology have sorted all of it out. I can still only take reiki from a femal healer, male energy seems to trigger the sickness and as for the reflex' I just asked the reflexologist not to work on the spots that are to do with ovaries etc to be careful.

So now I can enjoy it! As the for the boobs I could currently have a second career in a well known newspaper but I think Id have to be a double spread feauture if you catch my drift - 1 more month and mine will enter the room 5 minutes before me!LOL!

Best wishes hope you feel better soon Sam x
