Can Candida stop me conveiving?

I am hoping someone is able to help with my question. I suffer every month with Candida/Thrush and have switched to treatment via a pessary since trying for a baby (as I am told this is safe). I am worried that as cervical mucus plays a part in conception that the Thrush may intefer with this process. The Thrush appears like clockwork around my fertile period every month.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

The change in hormones cause that bit of extra strain on the immune system, that is presumably only just coping the rest of the time. [&:]

Not really done to quote oneself, but here it is anyway

In short - I'm with Candie on this one, as it's something that I'd suffered with for years & I did find colloidal silver to be one of the better supplements to take. After years of supplements & anti-candida diets - I eventually found that I had various food sensitivities, that were the underlying problem & it was NAET that finally cleared it for me.

I have written on various threads about candida, so it may be worth your while doing a HP search - All Forums - over the last year & try my username as author. 🙂

Good luck - Andrew. 😉

How about Grapefruit Seed Extract (Citricidal or capsules)?

In Austria grapefruit seed extract is widely recognized as the product of choice against candida yeast infections.

Doctors who have an adequate amount of experience with grapefruit seed extract are overwhelmingly positive in their evaluation. They appreciate grapefruit seed extract not only because of its incredible amount of uses and its effectiveness, even where others fail, but also because it is very well tolerated by their patients especially drug sensitive individuals.

According to numerous clinics and medicinal practitioners, grapefruit seed extract is considered to be a major therapeutic breakthrough with excellent results for patients with chronic yeast and parasitic infections.

There's something unique about this particular substance (grapefruit seed extract). Whatever it does, it does without the debilitating side effects. It has the advantage of being very safe. Grapefruit seed extract appears to be as effective as nystatin and caprylic acid and other antifungals used to kill candida.

The above statements comes from the internist Dr. Leo Galland of New York who has prescribed grapefruit seed extract for the past seven years and has published various reports about its effects on candida. Grapefruit extract is the method of choice of naturopathic physicians in controlling fungus infections.

I've been using Citricidal for a while. It makes your stomach gurgle a bit but it's very effective. You should definitely start with a small dose (3 or 4 drops) and work up gradually. I take it in fruit juice as it tastes quite bitter.

Hi There
I also get this and read at college the other day that 2 drops of tea-tree oil in 30ml of water is good for thrush (warm water and add honey if it tastes ikk). I don't know what implications this has on conceiving though but I thought I'd share it anyway!!

I suffered from Candida for 18 months on and off and all the Dr kept telling me was that it was stress! (which I didnt think it was! The only thing I was stressed about was him telling me it was stress!)

So after months of thinking I was going insane! I went to see a nutritionist who put me on a strict diet and vitamins and minerals... basically the sugar feeds the yeast which then causes it to manifest in different parts of the body. So I ate nothing that turned into sugar.... not even fruit. After 6 weeks on the diet my thrush went and I've been free from it for the past 3 years! Thank god!

I understand that you can take garlic extract capsules to banish thrush whilst trying to conceive.

RE: Can Candida stop me conveiving?

Hello and thank you to everyone who has taken the time to respond to my question about recurring Thrush last year. I am happy to report that my continued suffering did not stop me conceiving and we are expecting our first baby in a couple of weeks time!

I did try grapefruit seed extract capsules and have to say it did work but stopped using it once I was trying to conceive as the GP was not sure if I should keep using it. I have continued to suffer from Thrush even more throughout the pregnancy but fully intend to get dietary advice from a specialist once my body is back to normal as I have heard other reports that this works.

Thanks again
