Hi all, I am new to this board and just need some advice. Sorry but this might be a long post.
Me and my partner of eight years have decided to try for a baby. I already have three children from a previous relationship so not new to having babies but these are my concerns.
Seven years ago I had a cone biopsy so was wondering if there would be any complications to getting pregnant or giving birth (you do hear horror stories ), I also at the moment have the coil fitted and was told it would be difficult to get pregnant. Also I am 36 (same question again) any complications?
I have loads of questions to ask but don`t want to push my luck or bore anyone, any advice greatly appreciated.
Donna

Hiya Donna
Welcome to HP!

not a long post at all!

here is my take....
firstly studies have shown that it can take longer conceiving with a different partner, they dont know why so please be patient and hopefully all will happen quickly.

The only issues with cone biopsy in terms of fertility and pregnancy that i am aware of is: that there may be some scar tissue, this may make the entrance to the uterus a little narrower but hey these chaps are only little and dont need much room so dont worry about that...the only other thing would be a scar tissue isnt very stretchy whether this would affect the dilation of the cervix....its unlikey but a possiblity I suppose but again there are ways and means around this.

the coil, as you know helps prevent pregnancy so this would have to go if you want to start babymaking!

re the age thing, its a huge matter of debate...who can say which pregnancy will go better than another and why, the main thing though is to be as fit and as healthy as you can be, take the folic acid and do everything to have a healthy preconception and pregnancy.

Hope that helps a little.

Most of all, enjoy trying
Tiger

Thank you for your replies.
TigerBee: I feel really stupid now I know the coil will have to come out maybe I should have explained better but at least you understood what I meant. I will enjoy the trying.
Butterfly Congatulations on your pregnancy and am pleased to hear someone in the same situation as me hope all goes well for you

Hi There
no having a cone biopsy wil cause you no problems in getting pregnant or in labour, regarding allowing your cervix to dilate.
The only thing you may find is your cervix may bleed a little more when dilating because of the scar tissue but this should not be a problem.
best of luck in getting pregnant
