Hi everyone. I'll give you a quick rundown if I may:

31 yr old male, terrible fatigue, malaise, nausea, CFS-like symptoms for 6 years.
Liver panel showed raised ALT (c.100) about 2 years ago, diagnosed as fatty liver after ultrasound.
One year ago acute pancreatitis which led to gall bladder removal.
Liver panel back to normal.
Having abdominal pain again (central/chest) as well as worsening of CFS-like symptoms. New symptoms include bad skin infection on face, fungal infection of armpits and eczema on hands.
Liver panel last week showed ALT c.60.
I'm 5'9", just under 13 stone so not terribly overweight (BMI is just under 27).

Edited to add: Also, my hair's quite thin.

Is it worth asking for a test for haemochromatosis?

What does your GP say about your liver function test? Can you be referred to a specialist to find out what's going on. A lot of the symptoms you discuss could be related to liver function test abnormalities.

I have seen one case of haemochromotosis whereby iron has leached out of the blood vessels and formed darkened marks on the skin similar to moles. Is your skin marked in any way?

A FEW things I would suggest.
Slow down, stop panicking and ask your self how do you feel! - are you feeling ill, experiencing panic attacks, the CFS, where are you experiencing them, yes I know you have fatigue, malaise.... So did I. My CFS was found to be 'in the liver'
To ease the guts and aid the liver function I would use MILK THISTLE.
Masses of beetroot - Raw, boiled, juiced..... anyway but pickled. Red veg, fruits in abundance. Cut out all booze! and go see a herbalist. A cleansing routine of the liver and associated organs using Cleavers, dandelion, burdock.... will I am sure do wonders, but start your self on the milk thistle, tincture, Milokasan - anything and try it for 3 weeks at least. I feel fantastic now, and I was feeling real 'yellow'!

Thanks for replies.
No mole like markings.
Also to add that I am teetotal and have been for 5 years. NEver drank much before that either.

test for haemochromatosis

Hello,
I notice you posted that question almost a year ago, so you may have found answers in the meantime.

The effects of haemochromatosis are numerous and may vary from one patient to an other. However the clinical picture you describe is compatible with the condition.
So my answer is YES, it is worth asking for a test to measure your Transferrin Saturation and Ferritine level. You will then either eliminate the possibility or start treatment.
This condition is more common than was generally believed and is still vastly under-diagnosed.
Good luck
