Hi,
I really need advice on a problem my boyfriend has at the moment.
He tells me he has headaches constantly which feels like pressure headaches most of the time, particularly concentrated around the temple region on the left side of his head. He said occasionally the pain will be concentrated at the back of his head I guess around the occipital area is the best way to describe it from what he tells me.
He said he feels dizzy and spaced out quite frequently and his neck often aches. He also tells me that he can often hear a "trickling" sound coming from his neck. It is got to the point where at night he can't sleep as as soon as he closes his eyes the room spins so much that he feels nauseous. When he does occassionally drift off, he says he often wakes up feeling confused and as if his brain is "shivering".
He has been to the doctors who has said it is stress and has prescribed some anti-depressants (which I am really against him taking) but these just make him drowsy.
My boyfriend is a bit of a hypochondriac sometimes and has now convinced himself that he has a brain tumor or something of the same severity. I have told him to see a chiropractor as I think this would help and we have just started going running to try to see whether exercise has any affect on this but I am getting to the end of my tether.
Please don't think I am an unsympathetic girlfriend, but this has been going on for about 2-3 weeks (possibly more) and has now amounted to neither of us sleeping much and I fear that it is already starting to affect both of our jobs and our relationship.
If anyone has any advice I would really really appreciate it!
Thanks[:o]
RE: Please Help!!
Hi - sounds grim. Certain factors come to mind - is this a pattern? That is, has he described such symptoms for something else that turned out to be insignificant? Has he tried neck massage? What about tiger balm (do you know this - it's like a healing ointment you can use directly on where it hurts)? Lastly, he could ask for a second doctor's opinion. What about a brain x-ray? (Isn't he entitled to know - doctors do get it wrong). Hope this helps.
RE: Please Help!!
Hello,
I think another trip to the doctors would be the best thing to do, if he is stressed/depressed then like Amy said a massage would help. Indian head massage is good for headaches and especially tension around the neck, occipital ridge.
If he is dizzy and nauseous is he eating properly and regularly. I know that I often feel dizzy when I havent had a bite to eat for a couple of hours, usually a dip in blood sugar levels.
Hope he feels better soon and you get some rest.
Take care
RE: Please Help!!
Hi, It sounds a bit similar to Meniers syndrome ( inner ear problem ) when you say about him at night spinning out. look it up and see if it matches up with the rest of the syptoms.
All the best
Gary

Tell him to go back to his GP and ask for a second opinion . Did the Gp look into his eyes?. A lot can be detected about thebrain looking through the eyes with an opthalmoscope.
Does he suffer from migraines?.
