Hi
I wondered if anyone has had any experience either as a therapist or a client with regards to Parkinsons.
I am currently giving Indian Head Massage to a sufferer and as I haven't treated anyone with Parkinsons before am trying to find out if anyone has any feedback that they can pass on?
RE: Parkinsons Therapies Indian head massage
Our homeopath tells me there's been some success with homeopathy for Parkinson's. TCM or 5 Element Acupuncture could be other worthwhileoptions.

Beware from Parkinsons??????????
Now I want to share my knowledge about the Parkinson’s disease, I have read a news here [link= http://www.medical-health-care-information.com/health-news/9-18pesticide-and-parkinson.htm ]http://www.medical-health-care-information.com/health-news/9-18pesticide-and-parkinson.htm[/link] that banned pesticide that still lingers in the environment could be damaging human brain cells and prompting the onset of [link= http://www.medical-health-care-information.com/health-news/9-18pesticide-and-parkinson.htm ]http://www.medical-health-care-information.com/health-news/9-18pesticide-and-parkinson.htm[/link] Parkinson's disease. "We can't say at this point that pesticides cause Parkinson's disease, but we feel it accelerates the process," there is a big Panel of doctors give a group report that levels of dieldrin in the autopsied brain tissue of 14 Parkinson's patients were more than three times those of 12 similarly aged people who didn't have the disease.
The researchers also exposed mice to repeated low-level doses of dieldrin to simulate environmental exposure that humans might encounter. The mice's brain tissue showed significant reductions in the uptake of dopamine, a neurotransmitter. And, levels of carbonyls -- a marker of oxidative stress -- were increased substantially in the brain of dieldrin-treated mice. And lot of new research are going on the this disease so let us update to each other, Dieldrin was banned in the 1987 but, Dr Pennell said, "It's very persistent and remains in the ground. It accumulates in lipid tissues, including the brain." So you have to avoid its use.
there is one doctor Dr Miller they said that today people are being exposed to much lower levels of pesticides than people were 30 or 40 years ago," and "I would predict that over the course of the next several decades that we will see a decrease in the incidence of Parkinson's disease."
RE: Parkinsons Therapies Indian head massage
I have just started Indian Head massage, and my partner is a young onset sufferer - so I am using him as one of my case studies (with his consultants blessing I hasten to add!!)
His is a right sided parkinsonism, mainly manefesting in the right shoulder and arm. He is finding that it is giving quite positive results so far, more mobility and less tension. I was quite interested in the scalp points increasing seritonin levels as he has an obvious deficiency (keeps craving dark chocolate so is back on the Prozac).
I would be guided by how your client feels - I know I can work quite hard on my partner and he feels no discomfort. As with any client it is a case of personal preference.
