Having had a painful foot for many months....i eventually took myself off to the Doctors, and had a succession of quite rapid medical appointments. I have been scanned and it seems have Mortons Neuroma in 2 points of my left foot. Has anyone had this?....and and has anyone been sucessfully treated treated without surgery?
The foot clinic told me that surgery is only recommended if it's absolutely necessary as its quite an unpleasant operation. The Doctor who examined it at the scan said I may need injections in the soles of my feet:eek:...well ..would like to see them try. The soles of my feet are tough as old boots!!#
Since I have had the diagnosis I have carefully nursed it...make sure my toes arent curled up, as in going up stars, or crouching down, careful on the pivots, and careful on the clutch control. However it can catch at the oddest times, even turning over in bed can pull the toes side to side and casue a neural impact!
Hi Fleur
One of my clients was diagnosed with Morton's neuroma and had surgery many years before I met her.
Recently, she started developing similar symtoms on the same foot she was operated on AND also on the other foot.
I use myofascial/conncetive tissue massage techniques that seem to work wonders and symptoms disappear after treatment being pain/symptom free at last for weeks and sometimes months, which I consider quite succesful given the fact that she only comes sometimes once per month, sometimes once every 2 months and she doesn't self-massage or do any exercises...
My advice to you would be to find a massage practitioner close to you that has knowledge of myofascial and soft tissue release techniques. A rolfer, structural integration practitioner or a deep tissue massage practitioner will be able to help. When you find the right practitioner book few appointments close together to give it a good try to shift the pattern.
My belief is that surgery is always the last resort and deep tissue massage can be extremely successful for many conditions, including this one.
Good luck!
thanks massage space...that was an option I hadnt considered...:)
