Hi, My name is Denise. My father has been diagnosed with CIPD in June of this yesr. At present, his recovery has been slow and unfortunately he relapsed 4 weeks ago when the medical staff reduced his prednisolone too quickly. He is now on prednisolone 50mgs daily and Gabapentin 1200mg three times daily. Unfortunately, he is still experiencing tingling, numbness and 'electric shock', burning pains in his hands and feet. The hospital team are saying that there is nothing more they can do, so he will be discharged home. My father has no quality of life at the minute and is so down, due to the long term prognosis and periods of relapse and remissions. Is there anybody out there with CIPD that could reassure us or anyone who can give advice about how we could control dads symptoms better and improve his quality of life??

I would be so grateful,

Denise

RE: CIPD

Hi Denise and welcome to Healthypages.

I must admid I'd never heard of CIPD, but I've done a quick search on the web and for anyone else who isn't sure what it is...

CIDP = Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy

[link= http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/cidp/cidp.htm ]http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/cidp/cidp.htm[/link]
[link= http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/c/chronic_inflammatory_demyelinating_polyneuropathy/intro.htm ]http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/c/chronic_inflammatory_demyelinating_polyneuropathy/intro.htm[/link]

The latter one seems to contain a lot of info and links to more info.

Denise, I hope that your fathers condition improves and I, as I'm sure others will, will send him and youself energy at this obviously tough time.

You may want to post in the Healing and Prayers forum if you feel this may help also.

[8D] Hi folks, sorry for only getting back on-line now!! My life has been very busy and stressful with work and the worries with dad!! I appreciate all your support and healing!! I do feel weak at the moment, but knowing that your support is available is reassuring. Also, thank you Energylz for your link to the CIDP information website. It was greatly appreciated!!
