Hello to all,

I have those pains (ATN or Face neuralgia) since very long time and can't come to the end. 21 years I have lost visiting different specialist, doctors, but still have the same pains. 2 years I have studied alone, with picture of TN and also with massage electric machine (touching painful points). I have also tried all possible therapies private and over doctors.
My pains are bellow and over right eye and one branch (2 - maxillaris) is pinched on the bottom of the nose. My cheek bone is swollen; I have eyes pains, very dry sinusitis and pain goes all over right side of the head, neck until right shoulder. .
The fact is that even doctors (neurologists) don't know, what that is.
My life is destroyed: I have lost all and also had to leave my job. Because of sharp pain in the right eye, I can't suffer anybody beside me; I have to live alone.

I wonder is anybody that has the same pains and same problems.

Hi Bozana64 - welcome to HealthyPages.

I am sorry to hear you have suffered so long with your pains in your face and eye - not nice at all. You say you have tried all sorts of treatments - does that include acupuncture?

Have you tried Emotional Freedom Technique? It has quite a good track record for pain relief.

Just a couple of thoughts.

Also, what is your diet like? There are foods that might lower your inflammatory load and support nerve function.

I would suggest you are not at the end of the road yet :).

What sort of electric massage machine are you using? What is the name?

My father suffered with TN for several years, and benefited greatly from regular acupuncture treatment. However, the relief was short lived, but did give him at least 5 days pain-free. He was on quite high dose pain relief and anti-inflammatories, which dulled the pain, but he still had break-through spasms which usually occurred if he was anxious or upset. He also had hypnotherapy, which helped to a certain extent, as the therapist taught him how to self-hypnotize at moments of intense anxiety.

I have also heard that Bowen Technique is beneficial, but have not had direct experience of this.

Hi Caroline,
Thank you for reply.
What I need is a deep heat. I was told that my head has blocked circulation, as also my neck muscles. I am taking now pills for better circulation, but they don't help if there is windy weather.
My diet: some special diet I don't have. Only my stomach gives me signs, what is wrong. In that case I drink in the evening chamomile tea with a bit of plum brandy.

About Emotional Freedom Technique, I don't know what that is.

Regards,
B.

Hi Jabba The Hut,

Thank you for witting to me. I am (old) new member. In the meantime I have studied all about ATN. There are many causes for that, but nobody writes about wind or draft.

Electric massage machine is normal massager, working with electricity. I have ordered online, It looked like Sollux and when I saw that, it is much better, because I can massage all parts of my body. So, I can massage also my head, where I have one painful point of pain. .
For normal TN, one woman told me that she takes one Lyrica pill and then is good. I take Rivotril (clonazepam) in the evening together with Naprosyn and one sleeping pill.
During the day, I take Cymbalta and feel a bit better.

I want to get rid of those pains, but must move from here, where is very windy (my enemy).

Thank you for now and before,
B.

bozana, I have a question. Since you have become an expert in atypical trigeminal neuralgia, i ask to you. Some months ago I stared at sun for 20 minutes and then developed symptoms of atypical trigeminal neuralgia: do you think in my case it can go away if the cause is the irritation inflammation due to brightness of the sun? I have had it for months.... thanks
