Hi all, hope you are all well. I have an underactive thyroid (been on thyroxine for many years) I was feeling generally ropey a few weeks ago & had loads of bloods done at the hospital, anyway they were all normal except my thyroid still not working enough & I have had my thyroxine upped to 225mcg daily! I have been taking this dose for the last 2 weeks(have to have bloods done again in another 4-5 weeks) Since upping the dose, my number 2's have been much more frequent & not solid (have been going around 6-7 times/day this last week) Could this be due to the increase in thyroxine speeding things up?? I also got weighed last wednesday & weighed myself today & I have lost 3lbs!! Am trying to lose weight, but havnt been trying this last week as have been naughty!hehe. Many thanks in advance x
Hi All the symptoms you describe can be attributed to over medication. 225 is a very large dose of thyroxine. The usual replacement dose is 100-175, has your pulse rate gone up as well. If you are worried or the symptoms get worse go and see your GP again and ask to see an endocrinologist.
Increased bowel movement can be sign that your dose is too high.
I know this was posted a few months ago, hope you're feeling better now. x
levothyroxine tablets
Hello,
Just wanted to ask you if you heared about the change that was made to levothyroxine tablets?
Sine February 2011, GSK has stopped making the drug in the world. GSK moved the production of the drug to another company. In that process changes were made to the inactive ingredients of the drug.
It turns out that these changes cause some patients to serious medication side effects and imbalances of thyroid hormones.
Side effects include, among other things, hair loss, obesity, various pains, headache, sleep problems, nervous or irritable feeling, sweating, and more...
Doctors and pharmacists keep silent and say to all those who complainants that all these symptoms is all in their head.
I'd love to hear from you, if you have an idea of more people that have side effects from this drug in the U.K.
Thank you
Nino
