Hi, I'm currently suffering from extreme anxiety/stress and fear (possibly PTSD). I am looking to try some alternative approaches, but I have no money. I don't know whether things like Reiki help or even work, but I don't know what else to do. I don't want drugs and I have no where else to turn. I live in North Somerset. Thanks.
Hi bloke
There a a few things you could do which are really simple and should help to turn you around the main risk with them is that poeple tend to dismiss them as they seem too simple
1. Make sure you are drinking enough water every day (6 -8) glasses
2. Cut down on processed foods
3. Get some exercise - go out for a walk
4. Go and get some Bach Rescue Remedy and use it ! (They sell it in most chemists, Boots and all Health Food Shops
5. Find some breathing exercises and do them - have a look on the internet
6. Stop beating yourself up and try and think of 5 things that are good in your life and 5 things that are good about you
7. Do something for someone else however small
These really do work, give them a week or so and you will notice you are feeling better and in a much better place to decide what to do next to help you recover and move on.
I'm happy to send you some Reiki - I'm just about to go on holiday so won't do the usual set a time thing but I'll just send it, don't worry about whether you got it or not - you will and it will have an effect !
wishing you all the best

I've been trying meditation. But the emotions are so overwhelming. Unfortunately where I live there are no options to find other people (never mind healing/spiritual people, which I would like). So I don't get out. I don't have a job and even if I found one I don't know if i could cope (i don't like busy places). Thanks for the reply.
Do you know what has brought on the fear/anxiety?
These breathing exercises may help you.
4-WAY BREATHING
Take yourself to a quiet place before beginning this exercise where you will not be interrupted. Either sit on a chair or lie down, feet and arms uncrossed. If you lie down and have a tendency to fall asleep, sit on a chair instead.
1. Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth 4 times.
2. Breathe in through the mouth and out through the mouth 4 times.
3. Breathe in through the mouth and out through the nose 4 times.
4. Breathe in through the nose and out through the nose 4 times.
At this point, continue breathing in through the nose and out through the nose.
v When breathing in visualise relaxing and calming white light entering your body.
v When breathing out visualise all stress and negativity leaving your body.
Then, starting at your feet, feel them relaxing as the white light fills them. Now relax your ankles, shins and calf muscles. Relax your thighs, stomach and waist and continue until your whole body is relaxed. Don’t forget to visualise the white light! As a reminder, you are breathing in and out through the nose!
Note: If your mind wanders, bring your awareness back and continue relaxing your whole body. You will find the exercise easier with practice.
Note: This breathing can be done at any time. If you feel tense, agitated, angry, stressed, anxious etc, go through the 4-way breathing for a few moments. You will feel calmer and more relaxed allowing you to cope better with your day and giving you a sense of wellbeing.
This exercise is beneficial if you have a headache. After relaxing your whole body using the above technique, bring your awareness to where the pain is and fill the area of discomfort with calming and relaxing white light. Do this for as long as you feel it is necessary. Know that the white light is soothing and releasing the tension of your headache.
You can replace the ‘headache’ with whatever condition you are experiencing. For example, backache, tooth pain etc.
This exercise is also beneficial if you are seeking a connection with Spirit. It will relax you and quieten your mind, allowing those in Spirit to better communicate with you.
Hi, I understand that you don't want medicines from a doctor but if you went to see one and explained that you'd like to see a counsellor, you might strike lucky.- You might not actually want counselling either (!) but it would get you into a 'loop' and possible NHS access to other forms of support.
If you feel you can only go down an alternative route, I'd endorse the use of Bach Rescue Remedy, which costs a few pounds. I'd also like to suggest a homeopathic remedy that you could buy, but this isn't possible I'm afraid, without further info re the nature of the feelings.
In a critical situation, the Samaritans can be very supportive and might also suggest some other avenues for you.
It is a sad reflection on life that we have to pay for many services we require.- You might have to be prepared to ask around to find some free access to them. HTH Hom
Hi Bloke,
There's a Healing Centre in Queen Camel not far from Glastonbury that don't turn anyone away. They not only teach but, also practise Healing, Progressive Counselling, Mediation and Yoga.
I've done the Progressive Counselling Course and can't recommend them enough.
Best of luck.
Cheers, Sue
I tried the local chemists but they don't stock rescue remedy. I've spoken to counsellors before in the past and they just weren't much help at all. At least not for me. I can't go into details about my problems because I'm afraid to discuss it. But I've had emotional problems throughout my entire life which compound things. In short my family treated me poorly in terms of raising someone with love. Consequently it has left me, at best, very insecure and lacking in self worth or confidence. I have no one to talk to, especially as I live in the countryside (though nowhere near Glastonbury unfortunately).
Hello welcome to HP, Please don't dismiss counselling on the back of one negative experience, the counselling relationship is a very personal one and occasionally it may take a couple of goes to find the person you can work with. You say 'they were not really any help at all' please bare in mind that a counsellor isn't really supposed to be, it's a two way relationship where you work together to explore your issues and heal past events, you have to want facilitate change in order to engage in the theraputic relationship.
If you are looking for someone or something to help you or heal you then outside conventional medicine which only addresses the symptoms and not the cause then you are never going to find it.
Take it easy.
Love

I don't dismiss it, but I can only speak of my experience. I don't those experiences apply to anyone else either. But are you saying that emotional pain/fear can never be healed? What do you suggest then?
EFT is free and might calm you down enough to meditate.

Emotional pain & fear can be healed but I believe that the key to healing is in removing the imprint of abuse and trauma.
Counselling has its place - it's great to release stuff and to be heard, to be able to speak about your pain but does it do anything to remove the imprint of abuse and trauma - I believe it doesn't and the reason is that most counselling works with the left hemisphere of the brain, but trauma lodges itself in the right side of the brain, and most counselling practices can't touch this trauma. In fact, they get you to change your mind about something further distancing yourself away from the very real feelings and symptoms you have, and these symptoms and feelings are the imprint being played out in whatever way it has manifested within you.
In other words you can't heal yourself by talking about it, because the trauma is very real, it is in effect an energetic wound that permeates throughout the whole system.
When there has been childhood trauma, the brain doesn't integrate like it would when having a normal or neutral experience. So, in effect the right side of the brain holds onto most of the trauma, the left side having little idea of what the real problem is because there is lack of integration, in effect the trauma is held in a loop, and this can then give rise to depression, PTSD, dissociative disorders, borderline personality, even schizophrenia.
Now you begin to see how a talking therapy alone can't touch the right side of the brain where the trauma lies.
You need a therapy that will begin to remove the imprint of abuse at cell level, and also from the parts of the brain that hold onto trauma: the brainstem, limbic system, right hemisphere of the brain, corpus collosum, cerebellar vermis; and integrating both hemispheres of the brain, as well as nurturing to heal the wounded child within.
Vibrational medicine is one way of reaching these imprints and putting in the energies that were so lacking during childhood. In effect you flood your body/system with the qualities of love to heal the 'holes'.
Never doubt that you can heal from your experiences.
Great post Rosi!
Bloke- energy medicine might really help.-You could ring some regulating bodies of acupuncture or homeopathy for example, and enquire if they know of any therapists who work by donation only. They certainly do exist and that means you'd only need to give as much as you can afford for the treatment- even just £1 might be fine.
If you find you are immediately dismissing the ideas posted, without even trying them, perhaps ask yourself why you're blocking possible ways forward. How much do you want to feel better? How does it serve you to stay suffering in this way?
I wish you the very best and aggree with Rosi- never doubt that you can heal. Hom

I don't dismiss them. I just can't afford the ones i've found. However I will say I am extremely sceptical of homeopathy given that it works with doses that are too dilute. You must understand I don't have access to a lot of these alternatives where I live and the ones I have found charge more than I can possibly afford. I don't begrudge people earning a living - I just can't afford it. What is vibrational medicine and does it work?
What is vibrational medicine and does it work?
It most certainly does work, I use vibrational medicine in the form of flower and gem essences, where the energetic qualities of the flower, tree or crystal are transferred into the water, and when we take the water they begin to work to seek out harmony, imagine an orchestra that is out of tune, the essence works by bringing harmony to the orchestra so that all instruments are playing in order.
I have healed my childhood trauma with enery medicine and in particular vibrational essences.
and acupuncture would achieve the same result? i have no idea where you would find energy/vibrational healers; google turned up nothing locally at all. Just rang the acupuncture council but they said i'd have to negotiate with local practiitoners about free sessions. I don't really feel comfortable asking if someone who charges £50 is willing to do anything else.

There's Su-jok Onnuri acupuncture, much easier to understand and even
do yourself on fairly serious level:
Anxiety - excess of Dampness energy
Stress - usually excess of Dryness energy, lack of Heat
Fear - excess of Cold energy
The whole group of Gomo-energies.
Recipe: sedate Gomo, tone up Hetero, + control point on joints, which you can do yourself by taping seeds/crystals onto.
What looks good is the active scepticism in your posts:
1. seemingly enough energy to start acu schemes.
2. Acupuncture doesn't need emotional/mental efforts or smth
one may dislike like "love your haters" etc. Changes are on vital energies level which draws emotional + mental energies in the same direction.
The acu scheme:
a) 1-st thumb joint, 3 points size 2-3 mm at 90* to each other, at 9.00, 12.00 and 15.00 if on the clock face.
b) wrist line, point 4 at 6.00
You:
1. mark them by their colours on the image by a colour pen
(very mild action, for children)
2. tape either:
--- 2 RED plant seeds like red pepper, carrot, best is viburnum (guelder rose) on points 1 and 2 and green seeds like lentils on points 3 and 4.
--- 2 red crystals like red garnet on 1 and 2 and green like amazonite, peridote onto 3 and 4.
Seeds are to be changed for fresh every 12-24 hours and crystals
put in salted water 1 teaspoon for a glass, for 24 hours, so good to have 2 sets of them for non-stop treatment.
You have them taped for 30 min and up to 24 hours a day, according to feelings.
Such simple acu worked sometimes so strongly that I had to add correcting schemes for more comfort.
Very essential!
Red seeds need to be oriented on the point:
1. they lie on the joint line parallel to it
2. they both need to be their sharp ends TOWARDS you and their blunt ends from you if look on the palm.
3. green seeds doesn't need orientation
There's also no need to orient crystals.
Hello Bloke, I apologise I did not mean to imply that healing is some kind of impossibility, what I meant was that all alternative treatments require you to engage, weather it's counselling, EFT, energy medicine etc, nobody can heal you of your emotional issues without your taking part, the closest you are going to get to that happening is medicine but like I said in my last post this only addresses the symptoms and not the root cause.LoveRebecca x
I am prepared to take part, where possible (ie, if i can get there and afford it). I don't have any crystals (i don't even have any green seeds, and lentils are red) and I don't even know where to find them. Is there not a more efficient way of doing this
Lentils are red?
Sorry, then there's language problems.
The idea is to use any seeds/crystals of the needed colour, size
2-6 mm.
Seeds to cook food i.e bought in supermarkets work quite well.
Amazonite is very cheap and red garnet/peridote is also in cheap necklaces,
no need for first-class gems, stone size may be just 2 mm.
You may massage the points by smth like round tip of pencil:
--- point 1 - anticlockwise
--- point 2 - clockwise
--- 3 and 4 - random short twists right-left
Using needles or moxibition is for professionals, but you may try simple version by an incense stick:
lit and keep at about 1-2 cm from the point perpendicular to all points in a sequence shown on the image! for 0.5-1 min for each point or until a pleasant warmth at each point.
Bloke, I've sent you a private message!
Hi Bloke,
I would second the suggestions others made to try EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) as a self-help method to help reduce some of the overwhelming emotions you are experiencing. It is not necessarily a quick fix (though it can work really quickly for some of the simpler emotional issues) but will help to take the edge off the anxiety and can go further.
Experienced EFT practitioners should be able to treat PTSD and other complex issues, but even if you cannot find someone who would work with you for free or at a concessionary rate, even on your own you can achieve quite a lot with EFT as a self-help tool. Do have a look at [DLMURL="http://www.emofree.com/a/?2014"]Gary Craig's website[/DLMURL], there is a free manual you can download and many case studies and articles which illustrate what is possible to achieve with EFT. There are also many EFT videos on YouTube (of very variable quality, but enough to get the the basic procedure).
Good luck
Masha
I also agree about EFT - it can be very powerful!

tbh, this sounds rather scary and i'm not sure about doing it alone (which I would be). I would rather give acupuncture a go, but i haven't found anywhere i can afford yet, excpet maybe a single session which seems rather counter productive. Unfortunately for me i don't live where there is a vibrant spiritual/therapeutic community which is also what i need. I have been reading books by the Barefoot Doctor as he speaks at a level I can understand.
I've just read the EFT manual; rather the actual technique. Surely it's not as simple as this? Is it safe to try at home unsupervised?

Hi Bloke
Yes, EFT can be as simple as this! It's brilliant in fact!! Do read up the case studies on the main site () - find them with the search engine. Have a look on past EFT posts here on the forums to see what has been suggested too. You could start by trying it on a small problem you have, or even on the fact you are sceptical of it working and note any changes. You can then progress as you become more confident - but remember always to be specific in dealing with the problem otherwise it is inclined to be too vague to work. For example if the problem was aches and pains - it's no use saying 'even though I have these aches and pains' - it's too general, you'd need to be specific - 'even though I have this pain on the top of my left shoulder ...' or '... on the side of my right knee ...' etc and work with it until that specific item has been dealt with, but you must not any thoughts that come up in the process - these are often emotional situations that happened in childhood, or in the past. These will then need to be worked on. It takes time and persistence. Is there anyone who could work with you as it is often easier to have someone there to keep one on track?
Hope that helps - all the best
I would agree with Caroline that it's best to start practising EFT with smallish problems, and it is important to be specific when identifying what to work with. Of many therapies I have learnt and practised, it is probably one of the gentlest, but also powerful, so it is quite common to experience a temporary increase in emotional intensity - if that is the case for you, the best course of action is to continue tapping on acupressure points until the emotion subsides to comfortable levels.
Among the possible side effects are tiredness, lightheadedness, tingling - make sure you have a chance to rest after using EFT; in terms of contra-indications - if you have high blood pressure, do not use the points on the head (some versions of the procedure include these but not Gary Craig's standard protocol), just miss them out. Make sure you drink water as EFT may not work very well if you are dehydrated.

Hi bloke,
you said something that stood out for me.
It is this...
In short my family treated me poorly in terms of raising someone with love.
Can I share? In your words I see the word love.
I just want to share that is possible for you to ask for Love for yourself. And, that it is possible to ask for help with the asking.
You can ask at any time and as often as you like, whenever you feel the need to.
I believe that we are Loved more than any of us can ever contemplate.
And, it isn't a requirement for the asking to be at set-aside-times.
Love can be in the living, within us in the midst of every minute of our waking lives.
I send Love......
not just for Christmas but for every day of the year.
Love for you within all your searching.
Remember and know of the specialness of you......

Thanks. It is difficult, and I don't know if it is true for everyone, to develop love for one's self when one has not received any themselves. I don't know how to do this, because it was never given to me or taught.
tried eft, from that pdf, it seems to do something. this is incredible!
