Hi all,

Yesterday, whilst examining my testicles (something I do once every week and a half or so) I discovered a ball above my right testicle. Whilst trying to feel it it became obvious it floats around - moving around quite easily - and doesn't seem to be attached to the testicle itself.

Given that (according to various sites) testicular cancer only accounts for 1% of men with cancer and is very rare I'm guessing it's not that, and is likely to be something else (read all about various other conditions, now can't remember their names ).

The only thing that makes me slightly concerned is I'm 16 and for the last four years I've had very extreme Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (or myalgic encephalomyelitis to some of you) which has left me house-bound for the last year. Because of this I tend to feel tired, heavy and in great pain and discomfort all over my body, more recently including my groin. Therefore I don't know if the pain and discomfort I've been feeling in my groin is caused by the CFS or something else.

The last few days I've noticed standing and sitting down to be hugely discomfortable in my groin and ball sack especially, and originally thought perhaps my boxer shorts had shrunk or something.

I do plan to see a doctor, but actually getting there is incredibly hard for me at the moment due to the CFS. Does anyone have any advice or help for me in the meantime? I hope to visit the doctors sometime in the next week or two (failing that I see a paediatrician and an ME specialist in early December) but can't go right now as it would seriously put my health in jeopardy (family issues this week have completely taken it out of me, and if I push myself at all now I'll end up back in hospital).

Thanks in advance!

Don't speculate ME - go and see your doctor. (Are you in the UK?)

With CFS/ME, self-management is an absolutely necessity to a degree few people understand, so I accept that you can't go to a doctor for a few weeks. Is your GP sympathetic to your CFS condition? Any chance that you could persuade him to do a home visit? I know that normally you have to be within a whisker of death before getting a home visit, but it's worth a try. Failing that, is your energy up to getting to the GP if someone takes you? Do you have that kind of support?

Other than that, look after your general well-being. Eat healthy food, use relaxation treatments & techniques to ease your overall discomfort, and get the problem checked out as soon as you are able.

Good luck.

You need to get your GP to visit you as it's vital to get any unexplained lumps checked out. on ths CFS front A recent study has linked CFS with human gammaretrovirus and yeast infections. there is a simple home test you can do to see if you have Candida (just google Candida home test) I was diagnosed with M.E. 15 years ago and am now fine - Candida was my problem, but its not the same for everyone. The other thing that seems to help a lot of people with CFS is EFT which is a tapping technique that helps to remove any emotional blockages that are preventing your body from repairing itself. The basic technique is free to download from .

Good luck on your journey to recovery.

Hi there

I do so sympathise with your situation, having had CFS/ME myself and know how much effort is needed to do just about anything - it's awful. Excellent advice from eszenses, plus do have a look at the CFS/ME forum here for lots of advice. No doubt you have been on to the various ME websites, including the research ones.

Be aware that some foods may be affecting you, such as wheat, milk and eggs. It might be worth your finding about the effects of food intolerances (IgG reactions) - I found this was a large part of my problem. There are various self-tests available, some simpler than others. Look for information about elimination diets. I can suggest some books if you are interested.

As for the lump - it does need looking at by the GP, and is likely to be due to your body struggling to sort itself out. Perhaps you could persuade the GP to visit? Some are more helpful than others - any chance of speaking to him/her on the phone?

And do find out about EFT - look at all the videos and explore the site, which is enormous. If nothing else it will help you to cope with any family issues, and you can do it quietly by yourself. The results can be amazing - and therapists can help you over the phone, so you don't have to leave your room - see for a therapist near you.

Wishing you all the best.

Thank you for your replies,

I've since been to see the GP, then urologist and had an ultrasound and everything seems fine - god knows what I was feeling!

Also I've seen the CFS specialist who is confident I will get better - he's told me to start sleeping more in the day and, so far, that seems to be making me feel better! I actually managed to go shopping at the weekend which really was something!

I've tried CBT which helped a bit but I will definately persue the therapy you've listed!

Thanks,
MassEffect
