Hi all,
Quite a few months a go, probably sometime last year, I found a small lump attached to the top of my right testicle. I haven't been to the doctors yet, planning book an appointment for next week. I'm just finding it so hard to actually go to the doctors... I guess I'm scared of being given the worst possible news - cancer. It may just be something and nothing.
I've been reading a few things on the net, and saw that it could be a Epididymal Cyst, which as you may know is some liquid build-up in the Epididymus.
It definitely has a 'tube' coming from it.
I guess I should just be a man and go to the doctors. BTW, I'm 16. My mind has been all over the place... can't even concentrate.

jason go to the doctors, they will be able to put your mind at rest, my stepson had a problem with his and he went to the docs and got it drained, he had fluid on his. i know that you will worry about what it may be but surely it is worse just imagneing what it could be.
jason , dont wait till next week , go tomorrow and wait till you see the doctor .stop letting your mind work overtime ,it could me something or it could me nothing ,
the sooner you go the sooner it sorted .
i understand it somethink you could find hard to talk about to your parents or freinds ,but it need sorting before what ever it is get worst .
please go and then let people on here know our you got on and over your fear .good luck
Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate it.
I've had this since last year.... so if it was cancerous, then it may be too late. I really hope it's just benign.
I'm going to get the courage and book an appointment with my doctor. BTW, will he able to tell me parents?

Hi Jason,
As you are 16 your doctor cannot tell your parents (in fact I don't think a doctor can break confidentiality even if you are younger), although you may wish to discuss it with them yourself anyway because they are your parents, they brought you into this world and they care for you. 'initimate' type issues are nothing new, and you may find your parents have experience of similar things themselves that they just haven't told you about.

Thanks for the reply, Energylz - much appreciated.
Damn! I really need to book an appointment. Won't I have to go for some kinda' scan... or can your local doctor diagnose the problem there and then?
On another note, I have small lumps/bumps on my testicles and up the base of my penis. I understand that these may be swear glands. Is there anyway to get rid of them, as I don't like them.
Thanks.

Unless your doc has a special interest I'd make sure you ask for a scan and book a follow-up appointment.
Re the other question if they are sweat glands you can't get rid of them. They are there for a reason. Your testicles hang outside your body for a reason and need to be below body temperature for your sperm to remain viable (alive and able to function as designed).
Jason,
You're at that age where your body is changing so I'm sure the things you are noticing are nothing to worry about, but you should go to your doctor and get checked out to be sure.
At the end of the day, our bodies are full of lumps and bumps so it's perfectly normal. Once you've reached the stage where you've stopped growing it's just a case of being observant for anything that appears or anything that changes from what is normal for you.

Well, these lumps are all over both testicles & go up my penis. Some have hairs coming out of them, so I'm guessing they are sweat glands? Don't they ever go away?
I'm going to get an appointment for my doctors next week... best they can fit me in now, I guess.
Thanks.

If they are just the bumps of the hair folicles down there then that's perfectly normal. I'm afraid they won't go away, but everyone has them. 😉

Hiya
Go see your GP, bottom line. You've been worried for a year, possibly without reason, get your reassurance, treatment if it is necessary. Either way, peace of mind.
I knew a chap who worried himself silly that he had a cancerous growth, he suffered for years, before finally going to his GP and finding that he had three testicles, he had a spare. Once he knew what it was he took great pleasure in telling everyone about it. Bless him!
The lumps and bumps are normal, the GP can also get this checked, sometimes the nodes can become inflamed and make things worse, I seem to recall hearing that some people can get infections and it can be as simple as antibiotics to clear things up.
Give yourself a break, the doctor has done this hundreds of times and will treat you with dignity. As a woman who has had a number of smears in my lifetime I can tell you that you are treated well, as they understand how it feels - in fact in their training, I heard they have to test one another, so it's clockwork to them, part of their job. Their only motive is to secure your health.
