Hi everybody,I am a 63 year old male i started out at the drs being investigated for diabetes, with one of the blood tests the dr has picked up that i am very slightly anaemic, and he asked me for a faecal occult blood 3 specimens, now this has really put the wind up me because according to the internet this is a test for bowel cancer and after this he wants me to go and have a camera down my throat,2003 i had major surgery on my stomach for a ruptured diverticular, i am extremely worried by all this as anyone else on the forum had these tests done, any help would be appreciated.
Dear Shimmy,
There are a number of causes of anaenia. Low intake of iron, or a loss of blood, are both causes. Looking for blood in the stools looks at the second. Try a diet without red meat and red wine for a week, so that your stools are light in colour, and check them yourself.
I don't understand why he wants to put a camera down your throat. If you are not happy then, if I were you, I would ask your doctor.
In the meantime, tests are tests. Doing a test does not mean that there is a problem, simply that we don't know if there is one. This may seem hard, but try to think that it is better to know the facts and be able to make informed decisions that have any problems sneek up on you.
I don't know how familiar you are with the concept of Healing (see other forums), but I will ask for healing and peace to be sent your way this morning.
With love and light,
Sue.
Thanks for that sue, i think he wants the camera down my throat because i suffer with acid reflux being taking a tablet called lansopraznole for quite some time now but i think how he talks he would like this investigated for blood loss but my GP is not very explicit and he wants you in & out ASAP.
Plus i found out yesterday that this stool analysis is part of a nationwide screening for men of my age.Regards Colin
