I hope someone could give me some advice onmy painful feet.I have a great deal of painunder my left heel and a tight feeling in the achilles tendon. At one point I dreading getting up in the morning as my heel was so painful and the tight effect was worse. My right foot isn't quite so bad but is sore in the same places. I went to a podiatrist yesterday and he poked my feet and said I had some inflamation and that I had excessive over pronation. That the basic structure of my foot had collapsed. Which did scare me somewhat! I would need inserts in my shoes and he needs to order them in as I only have size 35 feet. Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

RE: Poorly feet!

I feel so sorry for you serenwen. Inserts seem to be the usual things that get suggested and will probably work if the damage is not too severe.

They also do a really expensive creme (body shop I think) which probably does nothing but really makes the feet soft and silky.

A good massage will help and soaking in a vibrating foot spa.

Good luck. Take it one step at a time!

RE: Poorly feet!

If you were my client I would advise you to order "prickle stimulating balls" from [link= http://www.physicalcompany.co.uk/products/product_list.asp?sCat=19 ]here.[/link]

Every daytwice a day, roll your foot on the ball, pushing quite hard, toes to heel.

Extend your toes away from the ball and then try to pick the ball up with your toes

Try to draw the ball upwards into the arch of your foot.

Try to balance on the balls.

Without the balls now
Standing.
lift all 10 toes, widen them and replace on the floor wide as they go.
Lift your heel and send the heel bone way back behind you.
Then rise on the ball of your feet, keep your toes calm and your bunion joints and big toes on the floor. use the strength in your feet to control your descent, and send your heels backwards before you land on them.
Your knees -
Have a look at how you hold your knees - you will almost certainly find that on the pronated side your knees roll in, whichmeans your thigh ismedially rotating from the hip. This is associated with dropped arches, and can also affect the s-i joint. Practice a lunge action, but keep your knees following the line of the toe next the big toe.
If you cycle/row/walk upstairs - check your knees are over your 2nd toes and not dropping in to the mid-line.

Massage your achilles tendon.

Your feet are really important - they contain one quarter of your bones.

RE: Poorly feet!

:)Thanks for the exercise advice, I have been massaging my feet, achilles too. Just finished a reiki session on them and will certainly try the exercises. Thank you very much.
