Hi
I have had two dislocated knees (same knee) over a period of ten years, the worst one was in 2002 when it took me about 6 months to be walking comfortably again. I had an MRI scan and was told i had damaged the back of my knee cap and it wasnt sitting in line with the "groove" it is meant to sit in. For years now it hasnt given me any problems.
But in the last few weeks it seems to have become really aggravated.
When my knee is bent i feel no pain at all. Which is good! But when going to stand or straighten it the pain on the inside of my leg - not the actual knee but to the left of it, absolutely has me howling in agony.
Cant think of when or how i might have pulled something there but my knee is clicking again on straightening. My knee is swollen too.
Got an appointment with the doc next week but i know i will be waiting ages to see a specialist again if needed.
So any help would be great.
Thanks

in my experience it is nearly always associated with dysfunction of vastus medialis which provides a mdial force to keep patella central, I succcessfully treated a 19 year old with same condition by getting her to do quadriceps setting exercises, google for the sort of thing you need to do,
it basically involves straighteneing your leg and holding for upto 30 seconds but you may need to start with 5 secs hold 5 secs relax,
we are often in a gym told not to straighten legs but this is important to isolate VM muscle,
