Itchy Palms

I have had this for a while and it can be connected to a liver disease called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. I do not drink so that is not the cause. Please check out the symptoms and have your physician do the necessary blood work.

Severe itching of the palms could be a symptoms of Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. Please see your doctor and request the appropriate blood test. Don't let him/her put you off. Check out REPUTABLE web sites.

poor diet followed by low room temp

Don’t mean to bump an old thread, since the last post was in 2013 I thought there’s no point starting a new one.

Well, I’ve recently got these symptoms and I’m only 25 (male), and have never taken any illegal drugs and have never had alcohol/tobacco of any sort, I never touch that sort of stuff, its the first time I’ve suffered anything of the sort, I believe it’s got to do with my recent poor diet (1 bag of microwave pop corn “salted” followed by water a day) also my room temp in my new place drops to 1 to 0 degrees c at night times.

It has to be one of these at fault.

If your wondering I’m looking into weight loss diet for an dieting company, with the “salted” pop corn you get to put salted back into your body that you lose whilst excursing, results, I’ve lost 2 stones in a month (most unhealthy but quick, perhaps if I was to have like 4 bags a day it would take 2 month to lose 2 stones) I think a stone per month was considered healthy, not too sure on that.

Anyway, ‘I’ll be sure to post back once I’ve gained some weight, hopefully this itchyness would also stop.

Mysterious Cause of Intense Itchy Palms.

MYSTERIOUS CAUSE:
The medical term for intense or severe non-inflammatory itchy palms and/or feet without any apparent cause or etiology is called "eczematoid dyshidrosis" which translates to "eczema-like tiny water blisters under the skin that itches". Not-counting things like eczema, psoriasis nor specific diagnosed skin allergies due to chemicals or foods, it's been long recognized by our medical establishment that eczematoid dyshidrosis is caused by underlying emotional or psychological stress. The condition is a related symptom of the fight-or-flight response when a person is placed under a stressful situation but symptoms may not appear until a few days or even a few weeks after a stressful incident has occurred. This type of induced molting would seem to be a genetic throwback to our evolutionary amphibian ancestors where other animals besides humans can also be forced to molt under given stress.

TEMPORY TREATMENT:
Severe itching of the palms and/or feet can be so uncomfortable to the point of disrupting a night's sleep. Aside from ingesting our pharmaceutical medications which contains poisons that can produce adverse, negative toxic side affects, one form of nursing treatment to gain fairly immediate temporary relief is to place hands or feet in cold water but this may or may not provide enough relief to gain a good night's sleep, however, placing hands in hot water or under running hot water for less than one or two minutes can and will produce sufficient relief for the duration of the rest of the night. If cold water is used this will of course in effect help to numb nerve endings to reduce itching but may not be as effective as hot water. When using hot water the trick is to make the temperature as hot AS BEARABLY POSSIBLE which may at first seem counterintuitive because the hot water will greatly increase the itching sensation while the hands are still in hot water or still under running hot water but then afterwards sufficient relief will surely occur. The hotter the water, the greater and longer lasting the relief will be afterwards and normally just one treatment will suffice for the night.

CURE:
Unfortunately the cure for eczematoid dyshidrosis usually requires avoiding such stress factors (people) or other situational stressors which is often not-so-easy to do.

Itchy Palms and Feet

Hi all-

I am a 25 year old female living in the U.S. I started getting itchy palms, feet, and back of the head last year. It came and went, but would stick around for days. I haven't had any symptoms for several months (except a slight itchy head that I always have), but my palms starting itching again two nights ago. I also have extremely itchy legs sometimes, too. I think that this may be dry skin related, but I thought I'd throw it out there, too.

After reading the entire forum, I am trying to put a few common things together as far as a source of the itching goes.

Most of the posters are women. (I saw only one post from a man as far as I could tell)
Most of us are having these symptoms at night. (Although I woke up with itchy palms this morning)

I found it interesting that one of the posters takes a serotonin inhibitor, as do I. Anyone else?

But after reading all of the posts, I think the most logical explanation is food allergies. I was on the paleo diet for a month before this itching started and then yesterday I broke the diet and had a sandwich, chili sauce a soft serve sundae. Meaning I had a whooping serving of wheat and dairy and refined sugars....

Just some thoughts... Thanks for listening!

Just an update, my symptoms of itchy palms and foot have all gone, I conclude that it was cursed by the lack of nutrients and the high level of salt intake.

If you’re suffering such symptoms I would recommend that you try a diets change, (it doesn’t have to be a major change), just cut down on salt and add something varied to your normal meal, more greens (vegetables etc) or simply try to change your breakfast to an whole grain cereal)

Hope this helps people suffering such symptoms in all instances see a doctor first as it could be an underlying health problem.
