Hi everyone
Does anyone know how to get rid of Athletes foot.
I was about to have a reflexology treatment done in college and my training partner noticed I had it. So I have used creams and talcs and essential oils but it is still there. I change my socks everyday (sometimes twice) I got rid of the shower mat, I dry my feet after every wash, but it's still there, only very mind I might add, but still noticable to my partner at college.
It's getting so annoying as it means I have to give reflexology at college but can't recieve it back and from the look of the other students it looks wonderful. I've had it four weeks now.

RE: How Do I Get Rid Of This?
Poor you!
You'll need someone else to actually help get rid of it, but I'd just like to say that from the sound of it there's nothing you're doing wrong. It's a very hereditary thing and a tendency that runs through families. My forefathers have soaked their feet in potassium permanganate solution for generations [:'(]
Don't try it unless you want brown feet.
I'd be very interested to hear a solution - I use Daktarin gold cream every morning as a preventative and would love to give it up for something natural.
Hang in there, Angel, you've the best therapists in the country on this site
Love to all

RE: How Do I Get Rid Of This?
Are you sure its athletes foot? Is it itchy or stinging. Between the toes or in the toe nails.
Where is it located. If it is athletes foot, it wont disappear overnight anyway. Tea tree oil is supposed to be good. You can also get tea tree powder from Holland and Barrats.
It could perhaps be some kind of psoriasis or dermatitis if on the rest of the foot, its hard to tell sometimes.
Hope it clears up soon, if not perhaps you should see the GP or a chiropodist for advice.
Best wishes

Neat tea tree oil on a cotton bud on the areas affected should get rid of it in no time.

Hi everyone, thanks for the replys.
I don't have smelly feet and my toe nails are fine, the infection is just between my small toes on both feet. The skin was cracked open at one point but has now healed, but I still do get a flaking of the skin. It does not itch or sting.
Will try using neat tea tree oil.........have just started using the lemongrass foot lotion from body shop, it smells great by the way. lol

Hi,
Manuka essential oil is very good too.
I have also heard great things about mangosteen juice which is among other things, anti fungal. I have one friend who's fungal nail infection cleared up and another who got rid of his athletes foot.
Good luck

It does sound like a small athletes food infection.
As the others said, tea tree is great, i would also recomend aloe vera to help it heal, aloe is also anti fungal and very effective, it will also reduce and prevent and discomfort.
Also, simple things like make sure you carefully dry your toes after a shower etc, make sure your shoes are not too tight and air gets to these areas. some toes are tight together and this makes it harder to keep athletes foot away, after a showever, put a little tissue between toes to dry them and then put on whatever lotion you feel is right.

Reflexology on your hand.
Just a thought - use reflexology on your hands for the affected corresponding area of the feet.
RE: How Do I Get Rid Of This?
Great suggestions from Halimah - which reminds me...
Forever Living products do a fantastic and very pure Aloe Vera gelly which I used for healing after an operation on my hand with wonderful results. It also seems to be good on any kind of rash or spot so I'm sure it would help your athlete's foot heal quicker.
PM me if you want contact details for a selling person.
love to your lovely toes!

You could try colloidal silver, it is a very good anti-everything treatment.
I believe Forever Living also make an aloe vera and proplis cream, which might be even better than just aloe by itself, as propolis has antibacterial/fungal etc properties.
Tea tree oil does irritate some ppl, especially if the tea tree has been adulterated, so buy from a reputable source eg [link= http://www.essentiallyoils.com ]Essentially Oils[/link] and stop using if the skin gets worse. Some alternatives to tea tree are lavender, lemon, eucalyptus, rosemary, ravensara or geranium. You could use a combination of 2 or three of these oils, placing 3-5 drops in total in 5 mls of lotion or cream, or neem oil which is a great anti fungal oil.
Make sure you wash your socks on the hottest wash to kill any spores that may be in them and possibly reinfecting your feet. I think putting cidar vinegar in the rinse cycle helps as well.
Let us know how you get on, you have loads of suggestions so lets hope it clears up soon 🙂

RE: How Do I Get Rid Of This?
This might sound a bit weird but it happened to me. A week ago I got an itchy, flaking thing that happened between my fourth and third toe and then my fourth toe got red and swollen. I started soaking the thing twice a day and it didn't get any better over about 4 days. I consulted a herbalist who was sure it was fungus and that my body was, at last, starting to get rid of inner toxins. She sent me some anti-fungus herbs which I didn't end up taking. Noting that this was at the end of the gallbladder meridian I started tracing the meridian and the following liver meridian several times a day whooshing the energy off the toe. Suddenly it just got better over the period of another day. It all just went away. So you might look at your toe problems that way. Since the original post was some months ago, I hope this is better by now but I thought I would just put out this info.
