I have read a thread on this website from a long time ago about crunching knees, but just wanted some advice on my own problem...
Both of knees have crunched during sitting/counching up or down, even slight bends such as going up and down stairs.
I am only 17 years old, but I weigh 16 stone, however, I am not 'fat' as such - I measure only slightly above average body measurements (waist, hips etc). I play lots of competitive sport...hockey, athletics, badminton etc, but I am certain my weight is causing my problem and I am getting quite worried about it because I am so young, and fear it will get worse soon - meaning I develop arthritis or something.
Apparently it's nothing to worry about unless it hurts. It doesn't hurt as such, but it's certainly not comfortable, and I'm just generally wondering what to do. I see no point in going to a GP because they will just tell me I'm too heavy.
Is it very likely to cause me problems in the near or distant future?
Thanks for any advice.
RE: Crunching Knees...?
I just wanted to add that my knees have been crunching for only about 5/6 months, but I have already noticed the sound getting worse. I don't know if it's of any relevance but I also wanted to say that if I bend my knees while sitting there is no noise at all, but I don't know if that has any bearing on anything.
As I say, thanks to any advice

I would think that if you use your knees more than the average joe, they'll show more wear & tear than the avg joe as well. You can take a break from the constant knee abuse and see if that lessens the crunchiness.
Good Luck!

Hi,
I would imagine you would benfit rom a good massage from either a sports therapist or remedial therapist, who would identify what I think will be tension in the quadriceps, and poss weakness in hamstrings.
