Hi all
Looking for some advice please. I was doing a consultation on a client last night for Indian Head Massage and she says she has clicky hips. She has never had a problem as a baby / child so she is wondering what this could be and what she can do to help with the pain. She is only 23. Her jobis quite an active one, so she just wants to get rid of the pain now.
The advice from her GP - well she is currently changing GP's as the last one was not at all helpful. So in the meantime she has asked me for some help. I suggest reflexology may help and also is she sees a Physiotherapist.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Many thanks
RE: clicking hips
Your client as a young female probable just has hypermobile hips, along with what's known as 'tendon snap'. Tendon snap is repeatable, so you can do it repeatedly, where as the click of ajoint 'gapping' (i.e. craking your knuckles) will only click again after 20 mins or so.
My usual advice with tendon snap is not to repeatedly do it as a party trick as they can get inflamed. Otherwise best left alone, unless causing a problem.
Andrew.
Hi
I have had problems with my hips clicking. Last year I was diagnosed with a dysplagic left hip and it appears I have had this from birth due to being a breach twin.
It may be worth her seeing an Orthopaedic specialist for a diagnosis and then seeking whatever help she feels she needs.
Hope this helps.
