Hi last week my husband had a massive pain in center of chest in his left shoulder going down his arm he was breathless and light headed and sweating and flushed in face I called ambulance he had the blood test to rule out heart attack but doctor said go to gp for tests to see if its angina( he was previously using gtn spray but was taken off this about 7 years ago) we went to gp today expecting him to arrange some tests but he said if you haven't used gtn in last 7 years you obviously don't need it I tried to tell him he didn't have it but he wouldn't listen I told him his father and mother have heart history but he just said that's nothing to do with you , I thought it could be hereditary hubby is 57 and he is breathless everytime he exercises which he never had before as he is very fit, am I panicking for nothing any advise would be fab sorry for long post

He should go back to the GP and ask for a second opinion, if necessary ask to see a different GP if there is more than one in the practice, and ask for tests to rule out angina.
It could be any number of things. Last year my husband called an ambulance when I couldn't breath late one evening. The paramedics came, did all the tests, and waited until I had improved. They said that my heart was fine, but to see my GP first thing to get checked. Turned out it was esophageal reflux - which can feel like a heart attack when it happens.
Only just caught up with this thread. yes he MUST get a second opinion - if only to get reassurance.
