A friends 7 year old has a congenitial abnormal heart murmer, he is being admitted to hospital on wednesday as lips are turning more blue, he is also refusing to go to school due to a possible bullying incident, His mom has asked me to try eft for his anxiety but I have told her to come back to me after the hospital appointment, did I do the right thing?

Well, if you're not confident treating him whilst he still has an unknow diagnosis, then of course that's the right thing. There's no reason however why EFT cannot help with his anxiety and fears of going to school or, no doubt, his fears of not being well.

And remember to treat him for how HE is feeling... as I'm sure a 7 year old wouldn't be saying they're feeling "anxiety". 😉

Hi Star - There's no right or wrong.

I expect the poor little fellow is feeling very anxious, not only about his heart condition and what they are going to do to him at the hospital, but how people will 'see' him. Children can be very cruel to each other and anyone who is seen as weak is likely to be picked on by those who find their kicks from bullying others, unless it is very closely monitored. The damage done by bullying cannot be underestimated, and this little boy has enough to cope with already.

I'd suggest it would be very helpful to do EFT before the hospital admission - it will make him much more able to cope with his situation and help speed his recovery, plus to cope with any possible effects from bullying in the future.

Energylz and CarolinrN, thanks for your replies, I do agree that he would greatly benefit from EFT, I love it because kids are so honest when they tell you, well unless they have wild imaginations, he is also an only child, and has intolerances to wheat, as does his mom, aunts and grandmother.

I need to think about it a little more as I am still a little unsure 🙁

When using EFT you are using the client's words to form the statements. Even on a basic level it is helpful, and especially if he is taught how to deal with his anxieties himself by tapping. I don't know whether [DLMURL="http://www.tapintoeft.com/eft-anxiety/default.html"]this article[/DLMURL] is of any use?

If you are so unsure, then maybe it's best left?

Hi Caroline, I have no problem with the Tapping procedure, its just if he had an abreaction or other, would I be making his heart condition worse, I may just wait to see what his consultant says, If it were an innocent heart murmer I would have no problem

Fair enough! You need to do what you feel comfortable with.

Just to update, the heart murmer was an innocent one, they did not say anything about the blue lips, strange.
Anyhow did some EFT with him and after about 45 minutes he just looked dazed and confused, that's like gold to an EFT therapist, he just lay there, smiling.
He is, according to his mom about 80% better, he goes to school and no more crying beforehand. I know there is another event which happened two years ago, which he may still be energetically locked into so I will be doing some more work on him. EFT is truly remarkable
